I’m in USA, type 2 diabetic for over 16 years. Lately I have tried the Spokane heart patient diet to loose weight and keep my glucose down. This was mostly to make my heart healthy. With this diet, I eat all fresh fruits first day, leafy vegetables the second day, fruits and vegetables the 3rd day and up to 8 bananas and 8 glasses of skim milk, etc. I was concerned with all the fruits and bananas, my glucose would go sky high, but to my surprise, my glucose remained down until the last day that I will have a cup of brown rice. I mean I eat a whole big watermelon in two days, couple of mangos and whole more. We’ll whom am I to argue, I c/k my glucose at least 3 x a day. It is what it is. I love fruit and trying to replace chocolate addiction w sweet fruits.

I am from the USA and have been a diabetic for 6 years. I didn't even know what it was until I got it. But through fasting and diligence I brought my A1C score from a 10.0 to 5.0! Recent check up shows my A1C going to 5.8. Your article helped to remind me to stay away from the high glycemic loads. I have been eating things you warn about.

I have always eaten watermelon as the diabetes class I took years ago also stated that although they had a high glycemic index they were an exception. They also said grapes were healthy but to only eat a small portion (roughly 12) due to their sugar content.

I live in a tropical country now, how do you rate durian, soursop, mangosteen, rambutan, lychee, jackfruit, sapodilla, lanzones, ambarella, green unripened mango and dragon fruit? Those are some of the favourites in tropical countries.
