Honestly, I do find myself liking the chemistry between Shez and Edelgard a lot better. Honestly, Byleth gaining everyone's trust and practically devotion is entirely annoying player worship that the game tries to get around with by trying to imply that Byleth being Sothis's vessel and having the Crest of Flames is what does it. It's cheap to force around genuine issues.

Shez on the other hand EARNED Edelgard's trust and possibly affection.
