no matter how many times it’s said, it always seems to fall on deaf ears

japan probably has the highest concentration/most ‘gacha’ things (games, toys, etc) in the world, and yet their art scenes thrive, video games thrive, movies/TV thrive, because sincere/fresh/creative things still have MASSIVE demand

i don’t want to suggest that the Western public is dumber, but we certainly do not go about things via the proper channels anymore

money talks
speak. with. our. wallets.

*Remember when having a cool skin meant you were really good at the game and that you didn’t spend a dime for it* . Man those were good times for me.

As an oldie in gaming (I mean age not expertise), I hate microtransactions. I replay old games like Mass Effect, Fallout, Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim. I love the story arc, the conversations and refuse to buy new games unless someone like you reviews them thoroughly and shows that they are worth my time and money. Thanks for all you do.

You know there's a problem when a store menu is more polished than the gameplay loop.

Personally i would appreciate it if video games shined on their own without that pointless movie glamour

Remember when you were young and there were some kids who sucked at every game they played? They grew up and now control the gaming industry.

We can't change it anymore. The majority of gamers are young kids who consider all of this completely normal.

The last triple A title I bought was Elden Ring and I have no regrets. I don’t mind paid for cosmetics, since I’d rather have that than pay to win, but holy man was it refreshing to just play a game that had everything already in it. In elden ring, if you want an armor or weapon, just go… find it. In the game. For free.

I AM getting a lot more fun nowdays from japanese games rather then western, games like Persona 5, the entire Yakuza now Like a Dragon franchise, The Legend of Heroes JRPG series, Atelier, Nier Automata, Resident Evil is Alive and kicking, every Hidetaka Miyazaki games, games like these show me that gaming isnt dead, but western games are a lot more about politics then being fun

I know people don't want to hear this, but you can always play older games. There is an entire history of games behind us, and I can guarantee you that you haven't played everything. That or just play indie games. I just finished an indie game called Blacktail and it was fantastic.

It’s not just modern gaming, it’s western entertainment in general. Everything is politicized, created to fulfill corporate greed or is just the same generic formula. Hopefully things get better

It's the inevitable fate of all forms of entertainment. Radio, television, YouTube, video games...they all eventually become saturated with commercials and advertisements. I agree with this video; one way to save video games is to stop buying into these tactics and instead support games that deliver great content. To get rid of predatory micro-transactions we have to show the major video game companies that they are no longer profitable to use.

In a Nutshell, Greed and Politics ruined gaming and entertainment.

I've kind of gotten to the point where I need to take long breaks from gaming just because of how rare it is that I even enjoy an experience anymore. Like, I feel like I HAVE to go back to my old favorites just to feel something besides boredom and dread.

I feel like a dinosaur when i think back at what the gaming scene looked like when i started back in the mid 90s. I've turned my back on modern gaming and reinstated my old gaming systems and over the last years i have gathered a wast library of games, there are so many gems we never got to play back in the day so there is technically no shortage of games, it all relies on your will to dial back time.

Games are a form of art. When developers love what they create, it's the best kind of art. When companies set up dev sweat-shops to produce games for profit, it's like the cheap art that decorates cheap hotels.

Games like Deep Rock Galactic are a gem. They have seasonal events. but you can earn all those rewards outside of the event at any time after it ends. Games like that deserve our attention.

Why i fell out of love with gaming
1) paying more and getting less
2)nothing new innovative/everything feels generic and the same
3) activism and politics in gaming
4) companies not listening to the fans

I could expand on these if anyone asks but thats just a quick list that comes to mind.

Honestly, Elden Ring was the best thing to happen to Gaming in ages. No bullshit, just a fantastic game out of nowhere
