I’m asian. I never once desired characters I enjoyed like superman, captain america, wolverine, batman, etc. to be asian. I connected with them because of their character, heart, personality, and journey. If you can’t connect with someone because their race or sexual orientation doesn’t align with yours, you have a lot of work to do as a human being.

Calling woke media good is like calling Velma a work of cinematic art.

Major respect for Idris Elba, and Emily Blunt for just wanting to be people, not defined primarily by race or gender.

Funfact: You can literally connect/relate with any character in media. YES!! THEY DONT HAVE TO FIT YOUR EXACT DESCRIPTION!!

It's sad... I had friends (They are no longer my friends) They were super WOKE. They were not bad people but eventually their woke attitude push me away. The saddest part is that they were always talking about wanting a change in the world. One day I heard about visiting a Senior Retirement Home that was low in resources. Many of this elders were abandoned by their families. I thought it be a nice thing to do. Take some food for them, play board games and chat with them. I invited my woke friends. NONE of them showed up for the event.

I still remember when being "woke" was more of a spiritual thing or a word people used when describing that they don't just blindly follow what people tell them.

I bet that when all this wokeness is over, all the people that pushed for it, will look back and say. "I was never that serious about it."

I think this era can easily be called the dark age of entertainment

There's no such thing as reverse sexism. It's just sexism.

You forgot to mention that how for animated films in 2022 Universal completely annihilated Disney both critically and financially with movies like The Bad Guys, Minions 2 and Puss in Boots 2 making more money and being more well received than all of the animated films Disney released that year.

So glad you mentioned the multiple hypocrisies and reverse sexism that is prevalent in woke culture. I've found myself playing older video games and watching older movies / shows just to enjoy content that isn't trying to push an agenda.

This woke shit is why people are crazy for Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. It’s a freaking animated film but had tons of charisma, personality and excellent writing. A good general message and everything was used with logic and talent, not with representation and appeal.

It didn’t need all this wokeness to be an amazing movie. It was simply talent, dedication and a little bit of luck that made it a huge success.

Emily Blunt is literally one of the best strong female characters in Edge of tomorrow, despite whatever world Jennifer Lawrence is living in

The biggest problem with identity politics is that it focuses on what you are but not who you are. It focuses on the things that don’t actually matter and instead of bringing us together we’re more divided now then we’ve ever been. The only difference is that no one is subservient or in chains.

I saw Lord of the Rings, Two Towers today, with the current trend of woke media, it was incredible to see a movie not trying to be an allegory.

Would like to mention that wokeness originally was, like other slang, a term we used to stay vigilant about the media reporting news, whether it was crime, economics, etc. when things got swept under the rug or forgotten after a few days. It wasn’t politically driven or some weapon used by politicians. It wasn’t something to identify mobsters of folks that attacked people for disagreeing with portraying race/gender/sexuality issues. While I do think they need to be talked about, there has been better ways of storytelling that has done this. There’s a reason a lot of these shows are getting canned for not the “Neo-wokeness” I like to call it, but just shitty, god awful storytelling.

I truly believe that when the woke era is over, people will look back on it like a bad emo phase.

I'm so happy to see the woke nonsense finally dying out in entertainment.
I also appreciate the celebs like Edris Ilba, Ana de Armas, and Emily Blunt speaking out against it. I can't wait till we get back to movies just being entertainment again.

I grew up in Canada but enjoyed Superman. He doesn't mention it often but growing up in Kansas as a farmer and being a proud American didn't phase me. It just showed that he's an honest person taking in the good of where he grew up. I don't care if there's a Canadian version of Superman, we already have the real one, which happens to be American. Don't mess with the Kents.
