The thing I like is they are both willing to have the conversation. Not screaming and acting like fools. That is a problem with America today. Not enough normal conversation going down.

Wow, imagine two adults having a conversation about something they both have differing opinions on. A lost art in this world. Kudos to you both Jillian and Matt.

I once found this argument somewhat persuasive. "There are gay animals in nature." Then I remembered that many animals eat their own shit, not to mention their young. I then realized that maybe we shouldn't take our moral cues from animals.

As a Christian, I asked that question myself, “why would God create me this way?”
After lots back and forth I have landed on the fact that sin entered the world when the fruit was bitten. Christianity is about faith in who God is, His Word (Bible), and what He did on the Cross. That means we follow His ways instead of our own desires or our own heart. Now, maybe those desires go away and maybe they don’t. There’s people in the Bible that have gone through hell and had horrible deaths but they were happy in God. He was enough for them. That is where I’m at right now. Maybe the desires never leave. So be it. I have never been happier and at more peace in my life. I will not throw that away for some feelings and if I do fall (because I’m human), I will repent and keep going on in God.

I have prejudged Jillian. I guess because she came from Hollywood and is gay. As a Bible believing Christian I would say that we don’t agree on some things but here lately the content I have been hearing from her is good. I have to say I’m a fan. She is what the Democrats used to be. Reasonable, thoughtful, willing to have a dialogue. I really appreciate what you bring to the world, Jillian. And thanks for being willing to have this conversation with Matt. I agree more with Matt’s perspective but the respect I feel from you is a breath of fresh air. There is room for all of us in this country. ❤

Much respect to you Jillian! Thank you for being willing to listen and share with someone you very much disagree with in such a gracious manner! You rock!

I don't always agree with Matt. But, I do adore his internal consistency and his willingness to sit across from just about anyone and talk. Neither of them is trying to "catch" the other here. It's just Jillian trying to understand how he reconsiles God, making people gay, and Matt explaining his reasoning without name calling or trying to "win" an argument. Lovely. Truly. I want more of this.

As a heterosexual and Catholic, my biggest issue with people against homosexuality is them saying just because you’re gay doesn’t mean you have to act on those urges to have a romantic partner. I think that’s incredibly easy to say when you’re the heterosexual person, in love, maybe married with kids. I just think you’re born the way you’re born. Homosexuality isn’t a choice. Imagine going through your whole life never having the chance to have a real, fulfilling romantic relationship. That’s just not fair.

I saw the whole interview and it was great. Both Matt and Jillian were respectful of one another and actually talked about various issues. Kudos to both.

I’ve always liked Jillian, but I’m particularly appreciating her even tempered, non-binary view on the issues. Thoughtful, civil discourse is much less common today than the radical ranting.

I love you, Jillian! I am a believer. And I’m straight. And I have a sinful nature. I was created “wrong.” I desire things that are outside of God’s will, and sometimes I do them. I was born on my way to hell. That’s why I need Jesus. He paid the penalty of my sin with His death, covers me with His perfection, and made me new. Every human needs Jesus to be acceptable to God.

I love having these kinds of conversations with social conservatives or religious folks. I actually find them less aggravating to talk to than some of their counterparts.

I have so much respect for her right now, I don’t know her thoughts on a lot of stuff, but she seems super based. 👍🏻

I appreciate you having the conversation on these topics even if you disagree with Matt. One of the best bosses I have ever had was gay and we had interesting, thought provoking conversations because she knew I was a Christian and didn’t agree with homosexuality. Disagreeing doesn’t mean you can’t still deeply care for or love the person you disagree with. Somehow that’s been lost over the past 20 years.

Why are some people gay? Why aren't we all the same? I knew my older brother was VERY different from my earliest memories when I was four or five. Being gay is not his choice. I got in a lot of fights (even into adulthood) defending him. It's a crappy life getting picked on because he was not like other boys. He's struggled his entire life trying to get himself together.
