Shadows, Foliage and volumetrics are the most demanding settings I've seen so far including virtual shadow maps. Played the game from start to finish with those settings on medium, no rt, tsr and rest maxed out which got me mostly 60 fps at 1080p on a 6700xt 5600. The snowy regions are by far the most demanding due to the shadow draw distance and deformable snow. Sadly shader compilation stutter is there and only one instance of character models/environment taking time to render in. Also the settings don't save for some reason so you have to manually edit the config file to get the settings you actually want.

For me there is no noticeable visual difference between high and medium shadows, but medium gives another 20fps, so I use it. It's the only setting I have on medium too.

Why is dlss the winner for image quality? The game supports DLAA and it looks better and performs the same as native TAA.

I think this game is broken because while I was playing, it got stuck three times. Each time I restarted, the game reset all my settings by itself! And to top it off, DLSS doesn’t seem to make much of a difference either. Talk about a game that needs a little TLC!

So in conclusion, use High shadows, Medium textures, Medium volumetric. Very nice. I don't think anyone did an optimization guide on this game already. I think this game is great. So bad that it was very intensive. As someone playing with a KBM, 60 fps is still my go to even in games like this but maybe I will get away with it. But the stuttering though. Or else it would have been great. 🥲

I can run rdr2 and gow ragnarok in 4k without problem but this goddamn game and silent hill 2 micro stutters on my pc.
