The whole filter makes the new version like, "Already Dawn" ....

The fixed over the shoulder camera makes me feel like they totally missed the point. The different camera perspectives were brilliantly used in the original and were purposeful. This game is supposed to be presented as a horror movie that you can control. Changing the camera perspectives ruins the whole vibe. It's such a shame.

Why does the atmosphere and lighting look better and more creepy in the original

Wtf? They completely destroyed the atmosphere of the game.

They should add an option to choose the original blue lighting over orange in an update

🤮🤮Nobody talks about the poor animations while you leave the controller idle, in the original the characters moved or rubbed their hands because of the cold, in the remake they remain inert, I won't even talk about the disgusting lighting, the lack of character highlighting in the dark forest, the music or the over-the-shoulder camera that takes away part of the cinematic experience.

Ok this one actually makes absolutely no sense... The original was already one of the most gorgeous games on PS4, pushed it so hard I remember it stuttered a ton. Why tf are they fully remaking it and just straight up changing the whole vibe of everything.. This is actually insane.

The remake looks too colorful for my taste. The original looks scarier and has cohesive art direction.

They completely broke the artistic setting of the original game..

How could you mess up the lighting on a horror game that is supposed to be dark and gritty? Yeah I’m sticking with the PS4 version.

Edit: My biggest gripe with the changes aren’t with the visuals, it’s with the score being removed and the Wendigo sound being completely butchered.

A veces, los desarrolladores se olvidan de que una mejor tecnología no siempre significa una mejor presentación visual.

That is pretty sad to see, they had such opportunities to make it even better by adding scenes and revisiting the story but they somehow made it worse with the visuals and musics, the artistic director is pretty out of touch imo

What a massive downgrade. Especially the nice camera angles that feature great animations in original entirely missing on ps5.

The models are great, but the lighting really kills this for me, and not the time-of-day change at the beginning everyone else is talking about. I can see the arguments for and against on that, but during the actual night scenes, my issue is that you can barely see in the remake. The original game used the classic blue lighting trick to simulate night without losing legibility, while the remake goes for a more realistic lighting that—while looking excellent on its own—makes it harder to tell what’s going on. The focus on realistic dark lighting instead of legibility is an issue with a lot of modern media, I’ve noticed.

That said, the main reason I’m not happy with the remake is the music change. At least the Dead Space remake kept Jason Graves’s music and only had a new composer for added scenes, but this just replaces everything and none of it sounds even close to as intense or memorable as the original score. Feels like a really important component was lost with that. Also losing O’ Death is an absolute travesty. The new song’s great and I’d love it as a sequel theme, but for the original game, O’ Death is unbeatable.

The revamped exploration is excellent, though. The cinematic camera of the original game is a nice idea that I think works better in cinematic games like this than other types of games, but full camera control is still preferable, imo. I think the best thing I can say for this remake is that the added extra ending teasing a sequel has me absolutely thrilled. Really excited to see where they could go with this in the future.

Using shadows and dark lighting doesn’t mean better graphics.
