What is biblical predestination? Does God predestine who will be saved and lost (Romans 8:28-30)? Does this happen before-the-fact, from all eternity? Or is predestinarian talk in the Scriptures after-the-fact?

1 Thessalonians 1:4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you NOT SIMPLY WITH WORDS BUT ALSO WITH POWER, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.

That's it, they didn't just believe words, the believed the miracles, some even performed them themselves.
But they new they were chosen when God started performing miracles for them. That is what this generation doesn't see. The only hear the rhetoric. Big talk, but no walk. Empty words with no power and no good examples.

This seems uncomfortably close to Calvinistic Determinism. If its not, then how is it different?

This is Calvinism.
Jesus taught that divorce is not Gods will.
To say, when two people are divorced then that was Gods will, you make God violated his own word.
This is what you are teaching?
