I just learned about this today when researching old 74 series chips. I came across the 74x262 teletext character set. In the USA we only ever had the closed caption feature. I never knew that other countries had something almost like the internet on their TV back in the 80s. I feel cheated.

Just bought a smart TV (because Smart TV’s are the only options now) and tried what you did in the video but it says “This function is unavailable” ? :(

Is there a shortcut to enter the teletext with one button click? its a mess to press so much buttons only for the teletext.

I have 8 tvs at home and they all have teletext apart from my smart LG! (our non smart LG has teletext). When new, we had standard teletext and an advanced digital version but I think after an update they both disappeared.
When you click "teletext" on the menu it just says not available.
Since the update too, when we switch on, the bottom of the screen loads up with all alternative channel info rubbish which is annoying to get rid of before you can select what you actually want. This didn't happen when the set set was new.
Like most internet technology it is beyond irritating and not customer focused.
PS I am in the UK.

My grandparents are really overwhelmed that there is no Teletext button on the remote anymore

Just bought a 43" 2024 Web Os TV with a teletext button but no teletext ! most disappointing. + no magic remote for the Web os system . Its very disappointing & I, m thinking about returning it .
