I spoke with several dealers at MegaCon in Orlando, and they all stated that the comic book market remains flat. Collectors are still buying high-priced key books, but they're essentially paying close to GPA prices. They'll pay a bit more if a key book presents well or has white pages, but there aren't many outrageously high sales. Prices still seem to be trending down a bit, and I don't think that will change much until the economy gets stronger, and people stop being as tight with their money. However, I don't think we'll ever see the craziness that we saw during the comic boom period. If I'm buying a big key now, I wouldn't even think of selling it for at least 10 years.

Sadly most people just don't understand how economies work. When times are bad, people leave things like stocks and paper assets and start going into physical investments. Things like gold, silver, real estate, artwork etc. Comic books are the same thing. Economies go both up and down it's never a constant straight line. And even if an economy is doing horribly, that doesn't mean it's horrible for everyone. They will always be people with money who will buy things up and when enough people start buying things the economy switches. I just wish more people would get rid of their emotions about what happens every few months or every year or so and see the bigger picture. So to me, seeing that key Comics are starting to go up in value at this point is no surprise to me at all. But sadly, it's a surprise to a lot of people who just don't want to spend time researching economics. The fear of missing out out on something is what damages many collectors,
Even ones who have a lot of money. The idea is to learn that when things go down, that's a buying opportunity, and when things go up, that's a selling opportunity. I hope more people start viewing any kind of investment as something long-term. And long-term doesn't have to be 10 or 20 years, it could sometimes be 2 to 5 years

I am not confident enough with my grading to pay more than $2500 on a raw book.

I don't think I could ever drop $21k on a raw on eBay, regardless of how many pics the seller provided. For that money, I'd have to go graded online or raw in person. Then again, I don't have that kind of money, so it's all hypothetical 😅

Absolutely! More of this type of content would be welcome for collectors.

I was selling at 2 different shows the last 2 months. I had boxes full of dollar books and higher priced books from $20 to $1000. 98% of sales were dollar books. Only sold a few books between $2-$100. Nothing over $100.

Hey, what’s up Lawrence it’s midnight I’m just watching this video. Anyway, some books are making a rebound.. I believe I told you I have X-Men 1 7.0 I bought many years ago raw for only $300 one of these just sold on Comic Link for over $30, 000. Just now I am very pissed off because I was trying to get tomb of terror 15 .5 qualified on eBay, one of the best and rarest books Lee Elias cover. I lost in the last few seconds that is aggravating.. anyway, have a great week. I’m going to the Yankee game on Sunday.

It’s because we are able to get content for reasonable prices. Comic book shops are closing and dumping their stock or selling on amazon. These people paying high amounts are probably Marvel executives trying to save their cash cow lol

Lol. COMICS ARE BACK...FOR THE RICH!!! Fixed your title for you. The majority of the books you mentioned are in the price range that less than 1% of collectors can afford. A big book for most of us is in the $300-$400 range. A tbousand dollar book is something you save for or trade up to. Most collectors will never buy a $4000 or higher book. Comics never went away for the wealthy.

Buying raw books off eBay at those prices are risky. Got some real beaters off eBay before. I only buy raws in person anymore.

we really need 1980s books to start selling strong again, not just the mega keys of the 80s

Love to see anyone say "It's a 9.0, but it presents poorly" or "Lousy eye appeal". All of these claims are so damn tired.

Seems like any obvious keys related to a movie are back on the menu. But day to day small and mid keys not related to a movie are on the decline. This seems like high wealth, top 10% impulse buyers are giving false hope for everyday hobbyists. Personally as a blue collar collector I am happy to be in a buyers market, but let’s be real the richest are the most able to consume at the level you are showing in the Oligarch of America.
