1 YEAR LATER NO POO METHOD | Asian Mixed Hair | Water Wash | Dandruff | No baking soda!

It’s been 1 year since I’ve started my No Poo method journey.

I’ll explain:
1. What is No Poo?
2. How you’ve been conditioned by shampoo adverts
3. Why I started No Poo
4. Would I recommend No Poo for you
5. Results of 1 year of No Poo

I took a 6 months break during winter to use Weleda shampoo, washing my hair 1 day a week, as snowboarding and using kerosene heaters in Japan, my scalp was always covered and my hair smelt like kerosene, the smells stick onto your hair even with a water wash.

However, now that it's Spring, I'm not using shampoo again as an experiment. Seems to be a lot easier now my hair is more used to not using shampoo so often.

Have you tried the No Poo? Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask in the comments below!

Also, I wanted to add: with a global shift towards more eco friendly living, videos like this couldn’t be more important right now! The decreased water and plastic bottle consumption is a huge plus of no poo. I’ve been washing my hair once per month for a year and it’s saved me so much money and hassle!

Here's what I been doing with my hair after I've stopped using shampoo.
There's this medieval hair combing method in which you simply brush your hair everyday for a long time (by long time I mean at least 30 minutes 😅.🌿 If you have short hair then brushing less than 30 minutes might work just fine for you🌿) . First I divide my hair in two sections. Then starting with one section, brush the hair with a very wide teeth comb. After detangling I take a few drops of oil(coconut oil because that's what I have. You can use any oil you want) and apply that on the ends of my hair (because that part tends to get dry. 🌿 You can use more or less than few drops if that's necessary for your hair 🌿). Next step is to start combing the hair with a comb which has thin gap between each teeth ( is used for getting rid of lice). I just brush my hair from root to tip. Each section of hair for at least 15 minutes(you might have to clean your brush one or two times in between if it gets too dirty). And after I am done with both section of my hair the shine is unbelievable 😄(🌿 if you are someone who doesn't care about having shiny hair then brushing your hair every two days should be alright 🌿). There's no grease of flakes on the hair. It feels and looks like freshly washed hair. I don't use any other products on my hair. Simply use water for washing the hair. But I tend to make a bun every other day while showering because the tips of my hair tends to get dry if I wash them every day. But I make sure to get the roots of my hair wet and just massage them somehow with my fingers under running water 😅. Rest of the days I just wet my hair completely while massaging the roots a little.
That's what I've been doing for the past two months. And everytime I tell someone that I haven't been using any shampoo, soap or conditioner on my hair the surprised look on their face is real😁. By the way, I live in a tropical climate and I have thigh length hair which is bleached from the mid length to tip. Never had to deal with the greasy feeling neither do I have split ends problem with my bleached hair because of this medieval combing method😊. Never had itching problem. My scalp smells just like my skin ☺️. So give it a try. You can just search medieval hair combing method on YouTube.

I have been doing no poo for 9 years + now! Granted I have short hair, but for the first 5 years it was long. It's certainly easier and less oily with short hair. Ahhhh it just makes me so happy to know that we are living out of the Matrix lol! The technique I use, which not alot of ppl talk about, is cold water (which I hear helps with dandruff), at least every 2-3 days. And then when drying your hair you can actually wick the oil out of your hair with your towel by grabbing a large strand/chunk of it at the scalp with the towel and pulling the towel out to the end of the strand, which wicks the oil out and onto the towel. And I repeat this for all my hair. For me now it just takes seconds but it shouldn't take more than a minute or two. Very effective for controlling the oil. Every head is different. Mine took about 3 weeks to get to equilibrium but some can take longer. Don't give up!

"Greasy" in this case translates to conditioned and moisturized. It's a new foreign feeling with it being your own sebum is all. But it's all good, we love it!!

I've been going no poo for 3 months now, and I gotta say I'll never go back to washing it regularly. I have washed it once, for a special occasion, and I strongly get disliked the way it made my hair feel. It was strange. My hair if really fine, and thin, and it helped make it healthier, longer, and thicker. Shampoo is TERRIBLE. I just massage and rinse my hair. It never smells bad, and is easy to manage now. Thanks for you video. :)

I'm in the third week now 💀. My head looks and feels like a shiney slimy grease ball. But I also have long done no soap showers for 2 years and went through a similar phase for the rest of my body and after the transition it was/is amazing. So I keep the the fact that I successfully gave up soap as inspiration to get me through this no shampoo thing.

It's not that easy, but this is the damage society does to people. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It's hard to break free from that, it's almost like an abusive relationship tbh.

You look a lot like you could be from an anime. You are sooo pretty. ❤

I quit shampooing when I buzzed my hair at the end of December 2021. My hair (which there wasn't a lot) got used to it very quickly. I'm still washing my hair with water only, but every now and then I'll use some kind of a hair rinse (ACV, citric acid or something else) if it feels like my hair needs it. My hair feels very nice, it doesn't smell or get greasy very quickly (it mostly gets only sweaty which kind of makes your hair look like it's super greasy). Also I used to have a problem with dandruff, but now it's ALL gone. I suppose that the daily shampooing really made my hair get greasy super fast but then again made my scalp get super dry which caused the flaking of the scalp.. Thanks shampoo industry for making me suffer with dandruff for over a decade...

I always hated the way shampoo made my hair feel and look. I have very thick, slightly wavy hair and shampoo just makes my hair super poofy and the hair texture is not great. I have been doing no shampoo for about a month using baking soda and vinegar and it helps with the grease but maybe ill try just water for a week and see how it works

I got used to washing my hair every 1-2 weeks when it was long but I recently shaved it a few months ago and decided to try no shampoo and no products (except hairspray sometimes for events and natural is okay like aloe or coconut oil). It is now growing and the longest length is on my shoulders, still doing great and I'm hoping as it keeps growing I will not have to wash it. I do have my natural soap bar which I will use the TINIEST amount if it gets physically dirty or sweaty but other than that I just use water and then every few days I use my scrub brush for my scalp. Never had better looking hair.

Quick and dirty overview of the history hair cleansing habits in western Europe to the best of my knowledge:
- combs are some of the oldest archeological objects we tend to find but could have been used in the textile industry we just have no way of knowing (btw "caveman" is a misnomer, in Europe we never lived in caves we might have used them for temporary shelter or religious or artistic reasons but "cavemen" were nomades and settled down in what resembles modern tents or tipis)
- combing is basically the way we kept hair clean throughout European history, in antiquity the celts allegedly used lime to wash hair (might have been chalk) and the romans washed it in mid August but i have yet found no description of how
-in the middle ages, vikings would wash hair on Saturdays the rest of Europe could have done it as often as weekly as little as monthly, like the rest of hygiene it was done with (vine) ashes, daialy hair combing and braiding and hair covering. Marseille soap is invented (then only used as laundry detergent) and first mention of scented hair powder i know of. Various concoctions and oils can be used
- modern era: the popularisation of closed chemney means less soot means less hair covering (maybe) variations on the humor theory, densly populated cities and the plagues means that city water is not the safest and is less popular, daily combing is still done, hair powdering (covering hair in animal fat and then in a layer of powder that is combed thoroughly daily) starts being a thing in the late 17th century but remains a really french thing to do until the late 18th century, hair is still covered by day specially outside.
-19th century: visible hair powdering become tacky by the beginning of the century, 1830 we see a trend of young teenage girls washing their hair is frowned upon by their teachers (tuberculosis bring a fear of being cold and damp), boar bristle brushes become common throughout Europe, the term shampoo (describing a spa like treatment inspired by india practices involving hair oiling and perfuming) gets coined in English. Detergent options include castille soap, jelly soaps, eggs, tea, coffee, all of those can be mixed with borax, alcohols or other astringent products.
Early 20th century, the fashion of cutting hair shorter and setting it in curls using water will bring with it the necessity to have it washed weekly to maintain the style and when long hair is back in fashion in the late 60- early 70s it's worn loose and uncovered and is then more prone to dirtiness (and a lot of cleaning practices are either obsolete or forgotten)

Rosemary water to rinse scalp oils out, finally I found something to try thanks

I diluted a native facial cleanser with jojoba, olive and coconut oil. It’s pretty much an oil cleanser. I decided to wash my hair with it, and followed with a conditioner, my hair feels so good and it’s bleached. I’m going to try it without the conditioner.

Things I learned in my 30's. Eat carnivore based, dont use chemicals on your hair especially, be populist as much as you can, embrace God, be humble and quiet, listen to instinct driven intuition reasoning.

Yes ❤ finally someone mentioning that „a super clean scalp“ (from baking soda) is not the point of doing „no poo“ 😊

it is soooo tempting to use back shampoo when you feel the oiliness in your hair. But I resisted and it's going well now.

I tried once the baking soda and water, the result was amazing. But then i realized that it is too strong and can damage my hair...so I wont try it again.

Only water is my ultimate goal, even for my entire body. With these, life will be simpler. Feels better without using bunch of chemical containing products.
