President-elect Donald Trump said he will impose widespread tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China, three major U.S. importers. Some economists warn the plan will raise prices. CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion has more and CBS News MoneyWatch correspondent Kelly O'Grady reports on the consumer impact of the possible move.

Way to go Donnie! A 25% tariff on aluminum will increase the cost of cans used in beer, pop, and premixed cocktail cans. Many Americans will love the 25% increase in their favourite beverages.

If there wasn't such a high demand for drugs in the US, there wouldn't be a problem.

Stupid analysis. Tariffs will raise prices for consumers. Period. It is not a “both sides issue”

To all Americans! Hear me out rn! 50% of your fruits and 90% of your vegetables come from either Mexico or Canada. Add 25% to your cost at the grocery store on those items. All this will do is cost you way more. You are also all relying on thinking that all republicans in congress or in the senate agree on lowering taxes which historically is not true. You will and I mean will feel the affects of this on your already strained wallets. And not only on food. 80% of your lumber is canadian, 40% of your steel, 45% of your oil, and so on and so forth. You think inflation is high. Add 25% to your bills. It is bad for you in so many more ways than you think. If either of those country retaliates, companies will leave for either/ or, losing jobs, creating the worst financial crisis since 2007-2008.

How long before trump voters have buyers remorse? Blaming Biden for higher prices was a brainless thought wasn’t it.

In China, Trump has a nickname, called " King of Knowing", as often Trump claims he knows everything. Now voters in US would know how much Trump really knows about tariffs.

I am so glad we have a real businessman at the helm now! I heard he has run multiple casinos and other businesses in the past! I am sure they are all doing great, just like the US economy will under him!

Where will the extra money go with the increase profit from the tariffs? Schools? The health system? Nope! To fund the tax break for the rich.

only half of what/who goes through the Mexican border on a MONTHLY basis (at its very lowest!), has tried to pass in a YEAR through the Canadian border
it's the responsibility of the USA to stop people from coming in to their country

Eh im Canadian, whatd we do? lol.. There is no threat from Canadians up here. We value our relationship with the states. As for NATO, we do what we can but we have nowhere near the capital or population of the US. Some things are easier said than done and just dont happen overnight..and as far as drugs go, I've never heard of a Canadian Scarface or Pablo Escobar...just sayin.
