Mars doesn't have a global magnetic field. This means that the radiation is about two and half times higher on the surface of Mars than on Earth. If this simulation is going to be as realistic as possible, these volunteers are going to be exposed to very high levels of radiation. In my humble opinion, this should have been mentioned when NASA said that it was looking for volunteers.

Also, I assume that the volunteers won't be exposed to direct sunlight and will have to stay indoors almost all the time. There are many long-term health problems associated with both. That is, these are health problems that are irreversible. This also doesn't include the effects that likely can't be simulated, such as that Mars' gravity is only about half of what Earth's gravitational force is -- and which may cause many more health problems.

This seems like a dangerous experiment and should have been labeled as such.

Wow, to ask for all those qualifications for volunteer work is baffling. And why train people for a mars settlement when the technology to get there safely and land humans on the desolate planet does not exist and probably won't in our lifetime.

If Ceres wasn’t in the Asteroid Belt and was a planet like the others I would wish ceres had 3 moons and I wished that Mercury had 4 moons and I wished that Venus had over 8 moons and Mars having 7 moons with 5 out of 7 being Round Shape moons that are the size of Charon Umbriel Ceres Ixion and Orcus.
