(Part 1 of 4) Since 2008, the agency's ongoing series of Future Forums have provided NASA leadership, technologists, scientists, and engineers an opportunity to join with local business, science, technology, and education leaders to discuss the future role of NASA in further advancing innovation, technology, science, engineering, education and the economy that benefits their community and the nation.

Very interesting forum!
A month ago, I had to do for school a presentation and we were free to choose about what.
Since the Mars Science Lab (Curiosity) rover was launched recently and I saw that in the news, I chose that subject.
Since then I'm totally been hooked to everything related to space and NASA. (In my childhood I sometimes read books and stuff about the universe but later on, I stopped doing that)

I feel now really excited about reading all the innovations and news articles arriving daily. I mostly read space.com .
I'm reading quite a lot on wikipedia and I also recently watched a BBC docu The Space Age: NASA's Story.

But what I don't get: I don't feel that the younger generation (like me, I'm 20) has a lot of interest in space. Can someone explain to me how that come?
Also by looking at the view count of quite spectacular youtube vids about Curiosity, etc. it seems quite low...

I read the US government wants all the attention of the younger generation towards the military and navy, and not towards NASA. Is this true?

i don't live in the us either, so i can't comment on the military issue but i'm also astonished by the lack of interest in space exploration by the general public.
after all it is the search for fundamental stuff! where did we come from? are we alone in this universe?
if you look at all the attention people like r.w.j. get compared to the amazing stuff uploaded by nasa, esa and the like it's pretty sad.
talk to your friends and tell them about things you learnt. =)
