Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Nachos dad might be the most wholesome person in the breaking bad universe. Refuses bribes, refuses to rip off customers, still has love for his son, despite being high up in the cartel. What a good person.

“And don’t try to upsell him, okay?”

Papa Varga is a good man.

Having a son like Nacho would be a big heartbreak for a clean father like this.

Those scenes with Mike and Jesse hit different now we've witnessed the whole Nacho/Mike relationship

This is a great scene, but one of my favorite parts is the very beginning: Papa Varga greets Mike in Spanish, Mike replies in Spanish, Papa Varga greets him again in English because he knows right away this guy doesn't really speak Spanish.

I always like how Nacho's dad is one of the few people Mike was always sincere and genuine to, because he knew he was a good, honest man. Compared to how he treated Saul, Walt, and others. Mike was always a good judge of character.

You can see how much Finger respects Papa Varga in their little interaction.

1:30 love how Nacho subtlety tells Mike to "get lost" with his gesture.

The look of shock on Nacho’s face 😂 He didn’t know that Mike was really about that life. Most badass old dude on Tv

Huge acting from Michael Mando here. Countless subtle face changes for every different emotional changes, but so natural. Hats off.

One of the main plus points of this show is engaging conversations like these. Especially the Mike-Nacho ones. I've never found a conversation in this show tedious 🙌🏻

Even though Nacho doesn't have an intimidating presence when angry (especially in the early seasons), him talking in front of his father is so different as compared to otherwise. He turns gentle

“Don’t try to upsell him”
Imagine if other businesses had that philosophy

I still believe Mike will have one final scene regarding Nacho's father and his shop, probably one last favor into protecting him for his son's request.

Feel bad for his father, old man has lost everything. Nacho saved his life but now he's all alone

"You net roughly 60 thousand."
"How exactly does that work?"
"Have you ever heard of 'squat cobbler'?"
Nacho's film career began that very afternoon.

4:39 I love Nacho's face in this scene, when he heard the name Tuco knew he had to fulfill Mike's deal or he was dead

"But you underestimated just how big of an idiot you were dealing with."

When Mike talks, you damn well listen.

Anytime when Mike has a screentime, and it doesn't matter it's just 1 minute sometimes, it has a very special vibe. Something serious but really relaxing and entertaining. Art of a true professional.
By the way I love the smile on Mike's face when Nacho asks about how did he find him? Come on boy 😀

I loved it when Mike says "Tuco Salamanca" and Nacho immediately gets out of his face.
