Lecture: Who Dares Say He Believes in God?

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. (Mark 10:18; see also Luke 18:19).

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21, KJV).

I have been asked many times by many people if I believe in God. I don't like this question. I generally respond by stating that I act as if God exists, but that's not sufficiently true. Who could do that? Who could conduct themselves with the moral exactitude and care necessary of someone who would dare to make that claim? Either claim? In any case, after being asked the question yet again, when I was in Australia, I decided to attempt to answer it in some detail.

I would recommend watching them in the playlist order, which will be this lecture first, then my Prager talk, then the interview, if you're interested in doing so. I think they make a good group. The idea of belief in God is of extreme importance. I hope that these lectures and interviews add to everyone's understanding of my position and why I hold it.

As always, thank you very much for your continued support.

Thanks to the Prager U organization for the invitation and opportunity.

I love how Dr Peterson seems to be having a conversation with himself and letting you listen in.

This dear man has suffered much in his mission to break us out of the prison of superficiality (and it most obnoxious child, political correctness) and is a gift of immeasurable value to our generation. Let's make his sacrifices worth something by getting our lives and relationships in order and making a difference that will benefit generations to come.

Such depth and knowledge. Thank you. I am a Christian, this does not mean I am as good as Christ. It means I struggle daily to do what I know is right. I am not perfect I am saved through the righteousness of Jesus. I’m forgiven by grace. Unmerited favor.

You know what amazes me about this man? His quest to make you as smart as he is. It's amazing and altruistic. I love him for these things.

Thank God his lectures are on here for free. Those of us who are poor still need his lessons and revelations about life… I have so much respect for him.

Mr. Peterson. You, and mark my words. Will be talked about as one of the greatest free-thinking psychologists in the modern day. And I'm honored to have been able to listen to you in the present.

At 26 after 17 years of a deep depression and endless meaninglessness, watching this man's videos has slowly given me a hope to creat a purpose in my life. At least today I don't wake up wondering if today's the day I off myself or not anymore and that to me is a life changing step

P.S. I love all of your replies thank you very much.. I just wanna give yall a little back story. My father died when i was 9 years old. I drove past the car accident that killed him and then went to school. When i was told later that day that i lost my dad and my best friend i cried for an hour and it broke me. I didnt cry or feel anything but numbing anger for the next 7 years until i found weed. It gave me my emotions back. It allowed me to feel and cry again. I used it to heal and feel some pf that pain but then i graduat3d to coke and pills by the end of the next year and then at 18 i started shooting Herion and meth and Coke. And then fentynal. At my worst it was 1 to 3.5 Gs a day. Also growing up i was physically abused daily to the extremes. thrown down stairs, through walls, glass smashed on my collar bone stabbed with a fish hook when i was like 4. I drowned when i was 3 and my step dad gave me cpr to save me. (Thats one of my first memories) I have had a rough life to say the least. But today i have a purpose. Today i Know who i am. I am clean from all the dope for over a year now. I just smoke every know and then. I have an IQ of 137 and a heart that truly cares about everyone. I know how dark and depressing life can be and the depths of pain in it. I wanna do everything i possibly can to ensure others dont have to feel thr level of hopelessness ive endured for more than half my life. This is why i truly want to open affordable housing apartment complexs/homeless housing and build communities based off the sole purpose of helping others and then one day if everything works out I want to run for president and truly help this country how i know the amazing people here can.

My grandfather is getting old, but still stays very healthy and active. Hes always been very present in all his kids and grandkids lives, and gets sentimental in his old age often. He recently told me that he was happy, that hes lived a good life and he loves his family, and that he couldnt ask for anything else. The beginning of this lecture by doctor peterson (when he mentions socrates letting life go gracefully) makes me think of my grandpa. Makes me want to give him and my gram a call and let them know im thinking of them
