We recently learned exactly why Owlcat Games has ceased updates to Pathfinder Kingmaker - They don't own it anymore.

Its always sad to see the people who worked on something to lose it because of corporate stuff. We just heard of a similar thing happening with the creators of Disco Elysium

The corporate superstructure which rules them all is called the Embracer group. (You might have heard about them recently acquiring rights to Lord of the Rings products)

The sad state of some corporate agreements. Great video, as usual. On a positive note, a new patch for WOTR was released today for Xbox consoles. It brings hope to see they are committed to continuing to improve the new game.

KOCH media had also changed its name to PLAION. THQ Nordic owns PLAION which also became part of Embracer Group. With recent acquisitions of every major Square-Enix owned studios, Embracer Group now also owns Saber Interactive; Gearbox Software; Darkhorse Publishing ; and dozens more studios. They have more than 120 internal studios in over 45 countries worldwide with nearly 250 games in active development. Additionally, Embracer Group had recently purchased Middle-Earth Enterprises, and now owns complete rights for film, video game, board game, merchandising, theme park, and stage productions of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. They also bought Limited Run Games, too.

On xbox one x, I had problems. But performance on series x is good, ive had none of the problems with my playthrough

Sad to hear that. Even with the patchs the game doesnt run well on my old Ps4. For informations I finish it +platinum on my PS5 and the game never crash. Just to say for those who would like to play it on console.

To anyone still looking to play this on console: only buy it if you own PS5 or Series X, it rubs alot better on those than last gen.

Another weird tip to improve performance: loot every single corpse, leave nothing on the ground, even if it's worthless. Corpses add to save file size and slow down the game.

Save file bloat is a problem on PC too, except you can use a mod that clears items dropped on areas and make those safe files somewhat manageable.

Koch Media reported in a German-only press release awhile ago that Kingmaker has sold over 1 million copies, so I'd guess they either own Kingmaker or own the parent company that owns it.

I just started this game for the first time on PS5. I am still early on, but it has already crashed on me several times. Hope I can finish it, because I do really enjoy it!

Man I couldn't get past after you save old man and family from bandits but the new king maker is sooo much fun

Wrath plays suprisingly well on controller but its weird getting used to the menus

Owl cat did better for wrath this time. I got the PS4 version and after the day one patch, game runs pretty well overall. Still has some bugs and the textures are set to low, but overall much smoother than kingmaker

Not sure how to feel about this one... this seems very onesided in terms of information. Usually you would have an adittional contract which literally forces you to deliver a final product and/or support unless you want to get punished. I can't see the benefit of leaving the console version of kingmaker crippled for any owner of the rights. Seems more likely to me that they couldn't agree on the terms of the continued work.... which by all means still suck but isn't a corporate-only thing.

Been playing kingmaker on console and it's a fight to get things to work right half the time with just broken quests, feel like playing something that own instead now, like disco or wasteland 3

Any hope that some technically inclined fans can do some 'unofficial' updates to bring improvements over to Kingmaker on PC that have shown up in Wrath of the Righteous? Not sure what the modding scene looks like on Kingmaker since I've never gone looking for them yet.
