Guitars of the Day! ESP have dropped a new signature guitar... for Hatsune Miku?? Who is an anime character, kind of? She's not a real person, but she is insanely popular in Japan, and this is actually just the latest in a surprisingly large collection of signature models for this very popular imaginary friend.

Also just learned that "Fitness Boxing featuring Hatsune Miku" is a real game that dropped yesterday on Nintendo Switch. The theme song is "Let's Mikusercise!!". Not sure what else to say lol

Vocaloids have been an awesome force in musical creativity for quite some time now, and the Miku personification of that has been something beautiful and a force multiplier. Great looking guitar, glad it's an ESP, will give it some thought.

Considering how many Vocaloid producers specialize in rock music or how many fans just like Vocaloid and rock music in general, the overlap of Miku fans and guitar players would probably be high enough for these to sell.

To be fair, it is as ridiculous as buying a guitar that looks like one played by a real player, at the end you only know them through the screen and by what they want you to know. What matter to fans is the meaning only.

ESP's other work on anime guitars is to be commended. You briefly mentioned the LP found in the BanG Dream spinoff series, but in the main series most of the bands all play ESPs. My Lisa Imai BTL bass is the best bass multiple soundguys at gigs said they ever worked with. My Sayo Hikawa M-II with the liminlay inlays including a huge rose logo on the 12th fret is the best guitar I've ever played, and I've tried the stupidly expensive stuff at Chicago Music Exchange. I feel unworthy playing that M-II, but I'm glad I imported it to the US along with my BTL.

If you think that's strange. Some of my favorite metal music is Utsu-P which is a full on metal/scream-o gutrolling Hatsune Miku. Also really good riffs.

Saw flyers all over the place for the miku signature in ESPs and big boss stores when I was in Japan this year. It's like a 2 year wait for them!

I found an ESP Sayo M-II Roselia (not the cheap one!) from the game bandori while there. Full blown ESP Japan has insane craftsmanship, if you can tolerate such a transaction to your wallet.
