"God gave us a machine body that responds to itself when put under pressure"

Best line in any workout video.

At 73 years old, I learned this many years ago by experimenting. Your body will tell you when you are maxed out. I noticed even when I was sore I could do as many reps, sometimes more. You can vary the reps according to how you feel. 5 days a week works for me. Several times through the years I will do 1000 pushups breaking it up through out the whole day. The next day, I'm still strong. Just do it. Your body will adapt and you will be stronger. Promise.

Plenty of people say you shouldn't while others say you should, if you want.
The only way of knowing if push ups an pull ups every day is good or bad is trying yourself

I worked out for an entire month straight and did 100 push ups and leg lifts a day only. In a month i only saw better results and compliments. I only pushed myself harder and not to strenuous and it worked well. Jay Jones, you're the best.

the rep ranges for pullups and pushups are no different then when using weights, to build big muscles you need to be in the 8-12 rep range, so if you can do 25- 50 reps your not really going to get huge muscles, you will have a body more like brad pit in fight club, you will be lean and ripped, now lets say you can do 25 push ups in a row . you need to change you hand position / put you legs up on a chair/ do pause reps . you need to make the push ups harder so you can only do 10 instead of 25, if you can do 20 pull ups add weights or change your grip, your body doesnt know the difference between body weight exercises and lifting weights, all it knows is time under tension,

Im 56 yo, just finished a weeks vacation on the beach, no Golds gym within 50 miles, so everyday I did the same routine. A 4 to 6 mile run, then a combination of stretching, pushups, and planks (normal and side) for a hour each morning on the beach. By Friday I was up to over 200 pushups in sets of 20 and 30 reps. I was a little sore each day, but still able to increase each day. Just one week, and I could really tell the difference.
Only downside to the week was that I had no pullup bar available. Most of my life I've just been a cardio fittness kind of guy, but I'm starting to get the bug to build some upper body mass, and a little definition on the abs. Bodyweight excersizes seem to agree with me.
