Great advice! I do ALL of these things and each year I have immense yields that feed us throughout the cold season and beyond, and still have plenty to give away to family, friends and neighbors. I use every available space, for example planting leeks in amongst the strawberry plants, or use the sweet corn to function as extra climbing bean poles, etc. It's worth looking into companion planting if you do high-intensity gardening, though, so you don't end up planting things together that don't really do well together, and put things together that do.
