The three main characters were pretty smart...
*Samira*- immediately learned the monster's sensitivity to sound
*Eric*- actually adapted to the situation faster than most horror characters
*The Cat*- never made any sound in every quiet situations

- So the audience could finally see something new and interesting about the Death Angels in this third movie, DUH !

I'd assume a Death Angel that big and that close would have been able to hear his heart beat and breathing.

This scene was my favorite part of the whole movie, seeing the aliens do more than just kill and do a social interaction with things from there world is an interesting thing to use for the movie

To explain (what I think) why the bigger death angel didn’t kill him was because of other sounds it was also hearing.
For example, you can hear his heart beating but following that was the noises of falling construction in the back and other random things. Personally it makes sense, and another is the cat. Frodo is making smaller noises than everything else. For example the scene where everyone is walking and eventually start screaming and running, everything else is being louder then Frodo.

The sensitivity to sound is portrayed so inconsistently. He made many unnoticed sounds in the alien lair that were just as loud as the one that got him almost noticed. And he was so close to them. Much quieter sounds are treated as sirens, even when further away from the monsters

To answer everyone on “why didn’t the death angel queen hear his heart beat and breathing?”, I believe that the Death Angels have learned to tone out consistent, regular sounds as being “Natural” so that they don’t go off attacking things like leaves rustling in the wind or waterfalls

I think this scene is going to be essential for Part III. The family from Parts I & II is on the island and they imply Joe Quinn's character also goes there, so at some point in the next movie they'll need this information and Quinn will be the one delivering it. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if his character saved the family, which would make Lupita Nyongo's sacrifice in this movie even more meaningful.
