A friend back in HS wanted to be a welder. When we graduated in 88 he went to a 1 year votech school to learn welding. After that he moved south and went to an underwater welding course. He got on with an oil company working out on the platforms. He came back to the home town a few years later and bought a new house on some land. Here he was about 23 and already a home owner with a fat bank account. while the rest of us were working dumb jobs for minimum wage or not much more than that. I always had respect for him for knowing what he wanted to do and going and doing it. I see him around every now and then he owns a welding fabrication business and has about 30 employees.

I'm currently in a welding and fabrication class, we just started to do some basic stick welding. But in the future I want to be either an underwater welder or a pipeline welder.

A scuba helmet that doubles as a welding mask. That's pretty interesting engineering in itself let alone the task you have at hand

It looks all peaceful at the depth hes at. When its not fun is when your living in a saturated habitat on a ship for a month and working in 500ft of pitch black cold Atlantic water.
