Google Pixel 5 | Six Months Later Review

Reviewing Google's Pixel 5 flagship smartphone six months later - and it's still one of the very best camera phones in 2021, even if it's lagging behind in other areas. This is still one of my favourite compact Androids, and definitely one for photo fans. However, the Pixel 5 can't even match some blowers half the price for performance, even if it can handle gaming right now.

Battery life is perfectly respectable, and it's rare for me to run out of juice before bedtime. However, if you are gonna be playing PubG a lot or Skyping/Zooming with buddies, chances are you'll run dry before nightfall.

If all you're bothered about is the camera tech, you can always save yourself cash and get the Pixel 4a 5G, which sports the same hardware. This flagship smartphone is tougher and water resistant, with wireless charging support, but the cheaper Pixels can still produce great-looking photos and video.

Still, the Pixel 5 is wonderfully miniature and Android 11 has been kept fresh with regular updates. You've got another couple of years of security and OS upgrades still ahead, too.

Hi, Pixel 5 user, had it since launch in black. Never had a overheating issue, nor the software message, nor the device shut off itself. I would describe myself as a heavy user, constant high end media streaming (audio & video) also gaming. Not had a single issue since purchase, really love the device & I would recommend to others. 🙂

I did notice it gets warm on touch from time to time, but it's nothing uncomfortable and not even once I received the overheating notification. Great phone overall.

I'm watching this on my Pixel 5. I do find it gets rather warm even when it's in idle charging up the phone and charger gets hot.
I've never had that message though. I still don't regret getting it.

I have been using the Pixel 5 but in sage and I have to say that I really love using it, I have not really noticed any over heating issues as of yet, the camera is effortless and always takes great shots, I agree the size makes it very user friendly and after dropping mine several times in the gravel I only have 1 minor scratch on the back. overall a very easy to use effortless phone that just works as it should, very happy with mine.
