At the end of the day, this is a single player game. The only question should be, "are you having fun?" If the answer is no... then play the game differently... period.

I recognize the game is designed around summons. There are multiple points to prove this. But no one is going to convince anyone to change their mind on this. I am a masochist. I enjoy the suffering of smashing my head against bosses solo for hours. This doesn't make me "better" than anyone. It just proves that I like to suffer, and I have way too much free time.

The most important part is that I enjoy playing the game like that. Nothing else really matters as long as you enjoy the way you play the game.

Some summons have unique dialogues, i loved summoning Igon against Bayle, the way he screams every time is hilarious.

The fact that pretty much every main boss in the DLC has npc summons that have quest lines tied to them being summoned shows you that it's designed for you to use summons. Even some of the bosses use summons or ads.

You can't complain about the games difficulty if you purposefully neglect to use one of your strongest tools.
