Idea that universe always existed and never had beginning, is scary AF.

Maybe the point here is that it is a closed loop. There is a nature, it exists until a certain moment, then a big explosion occurs, bringing the end of that reality and starting a new one, and so on in a circle forever.

Our existence is just insane no matter how you slice and dice it😮

Heard a religious apologist say that it was ridiculous for scientists to theorize dark matter to explain inconsistencies in the math - specifically gravity. Then he went on to use God as a catch-all to explain away all of the inconsistencies in the universe.

Edit: Just remembered that it was Dinesh D'Souza. He was debating Christopher Hitchens at Notre Dame.

If you think about it we’re stranded in space for eternity

No one is ever going to answer that question.

I think Steven hawking once said we will never be able to explain the creation of the universe in its entirety because the law of cause and effect was created in this universe. Before the universe the law of cause and effect may not have existed. Leading to the idea that maybe the Big Bang happened because there was no reason for it not to happen. This is the same answer that religion gives us. The idea that there is one creator and that creator just decided to make the universe is way of saying. Do not waste time on trying to define something which may be beyond our comprehension.

I've come to realize that the words "infinity" and "forever" are just some made up words, I can still remember my very religious mom (may she rest in piece)telling me as a kid that GOD has always been there & that there wasn't a beginning for him and there won't be an end. I totally believed her but a few yrs. went by so I'm like 12 or 13 which is when I started asking my mom questions about how was it possible that there was never a beginning for God, that he's ALWAYS been there, cause it just didn't make any sense to me, it was impossible, then we'd start arguing cause she told me that "no matter what, I should never question GOD" .
From then on when I'd have other good questions that she couldn't answer she would get irritated, upset & tell me to go ask a pastor to answer all my questions. It got to the point where I completely stopped asking her about anything that had to do with religion & human existence & things of that nature.

When I was a young kid, I knew the universe had no start and wont have any end either. Doesn’t it make sense? Same with time. I’m not sure why anybody would doubt this.

It's up there with what someone said about life, either there's life all over the universe, or life on Earth is unique, and both possibilities are mind-boggling/terrifying.

Religious people say that something had to be first. And if we can inspect every materials age - that means every material had some age. But G-d is not material. That's the whole point of Judaism and Islam for instance talking about spiritual G-d without body etc..

My point is that we currently don't see anything in this universe that lasts forever—so how can the universe, multiverse, or anything at all exist forever before and after ? You do math to understand the presence of a chair in your room or a simple pen, but when it comes to the vast universe and galaxies, you close one eye and say it all exists without a Creator?"

We live in a physical world. We can't even begin to comprehend that something has and always will exist. No start or end. Because in this reality, our "death" is considered the end. But is it?

Universe/Big Bang is the beginning of time.
God transcends time, as He created time.

The Universe keep Banging just like Humans

go north, you get to the north pole, go north more, you cant, the north pole marks the most north you can go, the big bang marks how for back in time you can go

the universe continues to expand until it begins to crash with neighboring universes, gravity collecting portions of different universes until it compresses to the point where you have another "big bang", and it happens over and over again..

The answer is easy… WE are infinity ♾️ so there is ALWAYS MORE… you will NEVER reach the end of it. Infinite levels in ALL directions… the point is to ENJOY the moment. It’s WHY YOU CHOSE to be here before you were born… like it or not. Focus on what REALLY matters… the connections… the memories, for those are the ONLY things you take with you when YOU leave this life!

We can play the what ifs, my favorite idea is the idea this is the 6th version of the universe and everytime every star goes out, all the black holes come together and form something akin something so massive that it explodes resetting the universe again and again since all that energy thing about not being destroyed or created.

The universe is made of descrete limited "things" - limited things have to have a beginning, because they are by their essential nature, limited. God isnt made up of something that has limits. God is the ISNESS of what IS, therefore he is uncaused. Dr Tyson obviously hasnt done a lot of reading in this area, which is why he is making this category fallacy.
