Capacitors have confused me for decades. This is by far the best explanation I've seen.

Its so neat how electrical systems can be assimilated to hydraulic or pneumatic systems. I do Avionics and had a Maintenance apprentice say he was intimidated by electrical systems. I basically explained the components to him as though they were related to the aircrafts hydraulic systems and he was no longer out of his comfort zone.

This is By far the best analogy and explanation about capacitors I've seen

this is why your phone chargers stay lit when you unplug them for a short time

Man you explained this way better like way way better than my university professors did in their entire careers

Capacitors are also great at storing large amounts of energy from low power sources so you can have low power on your board for sensitive equipment and to keep your amps down and then you can release all of that energy quickly for a high burst output. But that was a great explanation. Definitely better than any professor i had when learning electrical engineering

This is way better than how they teach in class.

That water tank analogy is so perfect and easy to digest

also they can be used to pass AC signals such as sound, while not letting DC through ..

Love that demonstration where you make and break the power to the breadboard. So simple and so effective. Thanks from England 🇬🇧

This is a very good analogy. But if you want to illustrate it more specifically, an elastic container (like a water balloon) attached to the pipe is better. You can demonstrate how it has a maximum capacity, how it doesn't fill linearly, and so on.

There is no net storage of electrons in a capacitor. Electrons are removed from one plate and an equal number of electrons accumulate on the other plate.

Energy is stored in the field between them.

I wish you were one of my professors when I went to college studying electrical engineering. The pacing of your voice, coupled with diagrams and circuit examples, is totally outstanding. Bravo! 😅 Keep explaining the basics. We need you!!

The fact that you can explain it that easy is fascinating
