Doesn't change the fact that William had a pretty sad life, goes to show that intelligence isn't key to happiness.

After what i read about sidis's life, i feel so bad for him. He may be gifted but that doesn't mean he liked it. He must've just want to have a life like a normal person

This video leaves A LOT out. A pretty interesting tidbit regarding Sidis, is that he was EXTREMELY upset with his life.

William James Sidis was born in the big apple, on April fools day, 1898. He was practically immediately recognized as a true genius, learning to speak at 6 months, able to read at the same level as an adult at a year and a half, and able to use a typewriter at just 2 years. When most of us were 2 we were still figuring out how to not crap our pants. Sidis graduated from Harvard at age 9 as a linguist, and obtained a masters degree in mathematics just two years later. Sidis gave lectures on mathematics, and by the time he was an adult, he had obtained 7 different majors and was able to speak 40 languages! Sidis literally predicted black holes in his book _The Animate and the Inanimate._

Sounds like a ridiculously intelligent and ridiculously successful guy right? Well under the hard enamel always lays the soft pulp. Sidis' parents were the cavity in this analogy. They were both massively controlling and neglectful, making sure every aspect of Sidis' life was seen by the public. When they realized who their son was they made sure to push him to the limit. His parents didnt want a son, they wanted a _genius._ They pushed him into the limelight from a very young age, and eventually drove him to run away.

Sidis decided at age 24 that enough was enough, and ran way from his parents and the media. In order to avoid detection, he used countless pseudonyms, and changed his location often. He was driven away by a society that ridiculed and pressured him. His intelligence was a curse to him above all else, preventing him from making social connections, and forcing him into a life of seclusion and depression.

Even having the gift of superhuman intelligence, and the potential to be one of the most successful individuals in the world, could not change the fact that he was unhappy. Sidis died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Boston in 1944, alone, and with no family. He was 46 years old.

While there is a chance he is the smartest person ever, the real smartest person ever was probably some random person who lived ages ago and lived day to day working not on the advancement of all people, but worked to get their food for the day.
