If I ask you who the smartest person to ever live on Earth was, you'll probably name Isaac Newton or Stephen Hawking or some other outstanding scientist. But what if I tell you there was someone really smart but no one's really heard about him? He was a child prodigy and an exceptional mathematician. Why didn't he get rich or famous?

As usual,
we see that media has played a bad role in this Era too.

Sounds like my Dad when he was young. Reading the newspaper and understanding it at 2. He had a vocabulary that was never ending. At 3 when an old lawyer stopped everyday to buy vegetables and asked him what he was reading. When my Dad told him the old man said "My boy you would make a fine lawyer one day" patting him on the head. My Dad went to U of Michigan Law School and after his law career he became Circuit Court Judge. He lived to be 99.

My friend who was very smart, had a very gifted child. She encouraged her mentally and by the age of 5 yrs could see that the child was unpopular with class mates and teachers. So she stopped any academic pursue and living in a rural community there was nothing on offer anyway. She just encouraged her daughter at home and endeavored to teach the child social skills. It was hard as the child had high functioning Asperger. With great effort the child was encouraged in social clubs and sports, like social swim club.
20 yrs down the track this girl has grown up and managed to have a happy family and works in financial world and is doing very well. I admire my friend for the effort and recognition of what was needed, it wasn't easy.

I believe there’s plenty of smart people who have thought of things that haven’t been discovered yet and therefore have no words for it.

I don't know why people hesitate to accept the talented ones.... this is always the case...

This reminds me of Tesla, who introduced ac electricity to the world, yet was always overshadowed by Edison his former boss and later adversary, because the latter was a ruthless businessman but Tesla was more of a humanitarian who became a recluse and died in penury.

I know of someone else who was a child prodigy mathematician, and attended Harvard at 15 and graduated at 18, had his PHD by 22 and like William he taught mathematics at a well known university (Cal Berkeley in his case), and he too wrote an important treatise and then lived as a recluse away from society-Dr. Theodore Kaczynski!

William just didn't want flash striking his eyes. Or articles which talked about him and his geniuses. He just wanted a simple, normal life where he could be himself. Obviously, he didn't want fame. I understands him very well.

He was really misunderstood. He was a rare person in our lifetime. His parents instead of him being gifted, they should have been more loving, well grounded and let him be a child, adult in the process. Social skills are very important also in growing areas of life. Always look at what is in front of you, looking at your surroundings is important too. People don’t appreciate greatness, protect, support it and will take advantage of it. A cold video of people who are colder and disrespectful towards people who are gifted. Really saddened by this story, WOW!

If the people of his time liked and understand, William would have been beneficial for humankind

Harvard’s ego: “That wouldn’t reflect too nicely on us if we enroll a nine year old” ☝️😁

Having a high IQ doesn’t necessarily mean that much. There’s a farmer in Missouri with an IQ of 200. And before becoming a farmer he was a bouncer in a bar!

We all know that nowadays, the smartest people in the world are in the YouTube comment sections.

To quote Aristotle "educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all".

William: *Collects train tickets*
Other people: What are you doing?
William: My goals are beyond my understanding.

I seriously just want to know how his brain could do this!?! If anybody else had just one of his skills; they'd be considered really great.
