My parents pushed hard. By age 13, I was done with high school, played 10 instruments, and went straight to college. My husband doesn't even know what my IQ was. I ended up with a brain injury that removed me from the work force at age 21. It was literally the best thing could have happened to me. I'm 32, have three small children, and live an idyllic life in rural Idaho near Yellowstone. I can’t drive, and some days conversations are difficult, but I love being a mom and I still am able to be creative and contribute to my community.

My sister just accepted chair of her department at an Ivy League college at the ripe old age of 28, after being nominated for her first Grammy. She calls me in tears on her birthday worried that she’ll never get a husband, kid, or normal life. All that money did little to comfort her during Covid.

Being smart isn’t everything. Brilliant people are often miserable. Count your blessings when you’re feeling dumb.

His story is intriguingly sad. His father was a Psychiatrist and intended on raising a prodigy child. Sidis struggled with the most basic life skills like regular bathing/hygiene and social skills, which he was never taught. The press and society treated him like a freak. They would go on to publicize all his life decisions. He was publically harrassed and bullied to the point he chose to isolate and hid his identity to avoid public attention. He settled for a mediocre job among working class folks where he wouldn't be noticed.

My husband(British) and I(Japanese) are extremely bad at maths. He failed maths GCSE and I would often marked below 10 out of 100 score at maths exams at school. We have a child who is predicted to achieve 9(the highest mark)at GCSE maths. We have never got him a private tutor. I never see him doing the study at home other than homework. He is regularly playing games but what he talks about during meal time is something extremely difficult to follow such as physics. Someone like me and my husband can never follow the topics he talks. He also achieved perfect score at physics exams. And the teacher said to us at parents evening that there is no area he needs to improve. Meeting with the teacher finished in about a minute. I wonder how parents like us with low iq can have a child like him

IQ was never designed to test intelligence. It was designed to separate students in schools by whether they have intellectual disability. It has actually been shown that curiosity is a better predictor of academic success than IQ. Additionally, IQ scores are defined by a person's "intelligence" relative to everyone else's. For example, by definition, about 70% of people are between 85 and 115. It would not matter if every person tomorrow became 200% smarter than they are today, everyone's IQ's would remain the same, since by definition 70% of the population has an IQ between 85 and 115.
