NEVER Trust A Diamond Tester... Here's Why (Scam Alert)

I wanted to share this video on why you should never trust an inexpensive diamond tester when purchasing a diamond. Natural diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanites will all give positive readings claiming that the stone is a diamond. This is why it's incredibly important to purchase your diamond from a reputable seller who provides you with the proper GIA, IGI or AGS report for the specific diamond you're purchasing.

To be clear, there are more expensive testers that can distinguish between natural diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanites. While not always 100% accurate they are less likely to give you a false positive. Always get diamonds checked by a professional before purchasing.

If it's impossible to distinguish betweeen two products after a couple seconds of looking at them, then the cheaper product wins.

What's the moral of the story?! Don't buy diamonds! Instead, buy moissanite. 😁 As moissanite are getting the same results regarding el. conductivity, hardness. They even sparkle more. Plus they are cheaper. Don't be a fool and fall for overpriced stone when you can have pretty much the same stone for a fraction of a price. Mind you, I have both - a diamond and a moussanite ring. And I love moissanite more 😉

I don’t know who needs to hear this, please don’t pay $7000 for a lab or synthetic diamond!! Go with the moissanite!

That tester is a thermal conductivity tester, not electrical conductivity. Moissanite is thermally conductive like diamond. Diamond isn’t electrically conductive except for type 2B. Better testers differentiate between moisanite and diamond based on this.

Moissanite ranks 9.25-9.50 on the Mohs scale making Moissanite one of the hardest gemstones on earth. It's unusually high hardness makes scratching and abrasions very rare, even after many years of daily wear and tear.

Your weird blatant disdain for moissanite is interesting….

Something tells me you don’t care for moissanite lol

Moissanite is next to diamond in terms of toughness. Lab created with no inclusion. Diamonds are overrated.

Moissonites are really worth more ya know? They're easier to make, can come in a plethora of color combinations even able to mimic SPHENE, they have up to 3× the color refraction than a standard diamond. Cheaper price and similar hardness on the mohs scale. Not AS high as diamonds but a good proper Moissonite will land a 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale. I have a couple rings of them, ive seen moissonite come in Blue, Green, Teal, Pink, White, Yellow, Champaign, and even dabbled into color duos making some that mimic Sphene. Its only cheap cause we learned how to make it in a lab. Diamonds nowadays should also drop in price because of lab created abundance but the market doesnt want you to know that because then they make less money on a "timeless gemstone".

I have a moissanite ring for my daily/travel ring. One side stone fell out & I asked a local jeweler how much it would cost to fix it. I told him it was moissanite & he said he could tell off the bag lol. But with his diamond tester, it tested as diamond. The only problem I have with moissanite, compared next to my diamond ring, it is more cloudy especially indoors. It sparkles nicely in the sun.

Problem is even the diamomd stores are selling moissanite.

That's why many are buying moissanites, as long as they know it's a moissanite.

Buying a diamond in general is a scam.

Don't buy cheap diamond testers period and the one your using not designed for Moissanites. The most effective way to tell Moissanite apart from a diamond is to use a loupe to look through the top, or the crown, of the jewel at an angle. You will see two slightly blurred lines that indicates a double refraction, an inherent quality of Moissanite. Double refraction is easier to see in some shapes than others
