The 20 dollar one has a wheel on it that you adjust to "calibrate" using a known real diamond. In reality, it just gives a good way for scammers to sell glass as diamond.

The fact that diamonds aren't actually that rare and are just so expensive because the industry makes them so expensive is just sad. They aren't even forever. Tgey decay way faster than most other gems and even rocks.
