How To Strip Electrical Wire (Complete Tutorial)

This is a quick video that I made to demonstrate how to strip electrical wire. I use Romex electrical wire in this video, but the process is nearly identical for stripping all varieties of electrical wire! This is a complete tutorial, and I go through the process of stripping the outermost and inner insulation on the electrical wire.

You are working with very large gage solid wires. Not much challenge since it is not easy to make a mistake and cut the solid copper wire. The challenge is in stripping lower gage stranded insulated wires. Problem is encoutered when stripping the strands and accidently cutting some of the strands.

This is how to not skin a wire, you have broke the insulate of hot wire and neutral. skin with a knife take one second and never broken any wire.

Never a good idea to estimate how deep to cut. Bad idea.
