this scene is incredibly cute and a perfect example of Penny and Sheldon's connection! yes, Sheldon still has his quirks, argues with Penny, and 'offends' her at times, like he offends everyone else, but we know this is his autism speaking, he just has no idea about social norms, that's all, and this is, of course, the main source of comedy on this show, so it's normal and only dimwits don't get it and whine about it under videos. But Penny and Sheldon definitely had the best-developed relationship on the show and the best chemistry.

the irony is, that Penny and Sheldon ended up having a way better relationship than Sheldon&Amy or Penny&Leonard. Their relationship grew naturally through the years and developed organically (which also is very visible in this cute scene) while Amy only managed to force and manipulate Sheldon to do things with her by conducting her neurobiological experiments on him, and then it was rather a habit for Sheldon, more than anything else. Also, there is no denying that Jim and Kaley had the best chemistry out of all the couples. Sorry, but Leonard was too short for Penny and didn't look good with her. And Jim&Kaley not only had general, platonic chemistry but romantic chemistry too which was proven with Sheldon&Penny's hot fantasy kiss.

Also, Parsons was all for it - for the relationship between Sheldon and Penny - during his interview about the show at the time of season 3, so before Amy appeared. I remember this interview very well, it was still on YouTube a few years ago. In this interview, Parsons was asked about the possibility of a romantic relationship between Penny and Sheldon, as more and more fans started to see the chemistry between Sheldon and Penny, and he was very enthusiastic, he liked the idea since Kaley was his dear friend and they loved to act together, share scenes, I remember Kaley liked the idea too. So if not for Amy (Mayim) Shenny was actually a possibility once, and really, they would look way better together, and be way better couple than Penny&Leonard or Amy&Sheldon, for me.

In the end, the funny thing was that Sheldon and Penny were still the better couple than all the other couples on the show, just without sex privileges, yet still miles better than others on this show. One example of this, out of many - their scenes late on the show, in the episode with Sheldon's birthday celebration, when Penny hugged Sheldon and he hugged her back, and when later they had a wonderful talk in the bathroom.
