I am a massive fan of both Squire and Epiphone. I have 4 Epi's and 2 Squires, some I got to mod, some I got and kept original. Maybe I'm cantankerous, but even if I won the lotto tomorrow, I would still use them. If I can't make a guitar feel and sound expensive, I don't deserve them.

I would however love to get a good amp.

Gigged a stock Vintage Modified Squier Strat for years only recently replaced with the SE silver sky. Would take the Squier out still any day of the week. Love the channel! Quickly became a favorite of mine.

I have tech'd every guitar I've ever bought or built or modified. I learned it all on You Tube from channels like yours and others. I love doing fret work. It gives me great satisfaction fixing others' mistakes. I'm going to use these skills as my retirement.

Any guitar can be a pro level guitar in the right hands.

To get into Teles, i bought a Squier affinity tele and it is very good now! After i levelled and crowned the frets, i changed the complete hardware and now it is a beast! I then thought i would get a Fender Am Pro ll my surprise when i played one in a store( i tried more than one) and they felt exactly the same as my Squier....nothing there to justify 2 grand more than the Squier....i went home with a Maybach Teleman T-54 for similar money as the Fender and it is in a different great show Dylan!

Thanks for answering my question about your strat's recorded tone!

Great video! Your point about getting a new guitar professionally set up is something I've been preaching for years! I tell everyone that it will be the best money they'll spend on the guitar that isn't the guitar. It always reminds me of the people that drop big money on a new computer but an extra relatively few dollars for decent surge protector or warranty is a bridge too far.

Hi, with all do respect, as a personal opinion (I like gear and mods-but), talking about cheap or affordable guitars, and their pickups, to record a whole album in a studio and/or to gig with, I would like to know his knowledge about the readings, wire, henries, resistance, tone, and coil sound, when Bryan May, at the age of 16, was building his red special, with no alnico, and chose, to use a set of 3 ceramic burns Tri-sonic single coils and covered 2 of the 3 coils with with Araldite epoxy to reduce micro-phonics, so no wax or bee wax, no tusq nut, no flat wounds, no Mallory caps, no bumble bee caps, no cts pots, no special wood tone, no stainless steel frets, and even, according to May, there are worm holes in the neck of the guitar that he filled in with matchsticks, The tremolo system is made from an old hardened-steel knife-edge shaped into a V and two motorbike valve springs.
So why not to use squier, epiphones etc to record and gig. Take care.

Re: neck pickup pull on the string thing. There's an experiment shoot video by Dylan (?) or smb else whom I also follow, where the 'neck pup kills the sustain" myth was being busted. Only it wasn't. There were signals recorded from the same guitar with the neck pup in and completely out of the guitar. You could see on the sine wave how different the graphs were, and actually hear the difference in sustain. The neck pup actually sustains the sustain, not kills it! But the point is, yes, there's a clearly perceptible difference when a pup pulls on the string

Jeff Healey played a Squier.
If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

I have a number of very expensive guitars and I have to say, I love the necks and performance of my Squire guitars.

I recently decked out a squier starcaster, telecaster, and offset-tele with really nice pickups and pots and don't even want Fenders at this point. Squiers are so good!

Re: fret sprout. Yes it is can often be a result of production line guitar making . Makers dry the woods on kilns, sparing themselves time and expense, and the result may be questionable and lead to further wood moving. With some makers, it just IS.

Ive had the made in Indonesia Squier 50’s CV Tele for one month now. The specs are what I was looking for (pine body and 21 fret neck.) The neck feel as good as any to me. The pickups sound is what I was looking for. I was surprised and eint be making any changes at this time. I had a MIM Fender Tele that turned out to be a dud.

Two crazy things i've experienced with cheap instruments, One Starsound should have been a 22 fret neck, But on this one they did not make the fret or the slot for fret 22. A Maestro/Epiphone model with 6 left tuners had drilled the holes for the attatchment screw on three of the tuners, the GBE tuners, But no screws or holes for EAD, I guess they used the 3 left 3 right drill template for the one set of three and forgot to make the rest.

Didn't Mike Rutherford of Genesis take Squiers out on their last tour?

It would be interesting just to shut people up about neck pickup pull to put an electromagnegt in the neck position and see how strong the magnetic field should be to afect the sustain. It would probably be pretty noisey tho

I have two Squier strats. One SSS made in USA, the other SSH made in China. Both gold series. I don't know which sounds better. They sound different, of course.

i really enjoy your channel no BS .? i am building a custom tele and have a chrome plated pickguard what is the best way to ground it . i am worried if i solder a wire to it it will mess up the plating.
