Hot news. Hope they use the Intel mess as a chance to do what needs to be done, rather than rush it.

Intel blowing themselves up, AMD putting it on cruise control. 7950X3D is the best purchase I ever made.

I just saw the Gamer's Nexus video and holy shit. I'm happy they're stepping in before they have this stuff out to the public but god damn CPU makers not looking good this gen and this coming up gen. Just a shitshow. ONCE AGAIN THOUGH, good on AMD getting out early.

I don't mind waiting and appreciate that they are holding off to correct any issues. Currently running on a Ryzen 7 2700X I built in 2018 and planning on building another PC using their 9950X.

There was an update on TheVerge that stated that the CPUs themselves were not affected by a problem, but that the test procedure was partly incorrect or was carried out incorrectly. "The recall and associated postponement are not because AMD found any faults with the CPUs themselves, AMD spokeswoman Stacy MacDiarmid told The Verge. Rather, AMD determined that some of the chips did not go through all proper testing procedures, and the company wants to make sure they do - hence the recall."

I'd love if you do breaking news more often! This was fun and interesting. :-)

I was planning on skipping this round anyway. My 7950x is still doing the job.

Breaking news is a fun segment. With how volatile the hardware industry is at the moment maybe you'll get more chances!

Is Gordon okay? Man, he looks so thin and sickly. I hope he's doing well.

So in other words TSMC had a bad batch of wafers. Or, since I believe TSMC also does the interconnect, maybe I'm wrong, they messed that part up. I know TSMC does the Vcache but maybe they don't do the interconnect on the PCB.

Not really a bad thing. It's better this way than what Intel has given out. Plus, is there anything these CPUs can do that the current ones can't?

I see this as no big deal. AMD is basically showing Intel how it's done. AMD pulled the stops so consumer would not be saddled with potentially defective products, and so AMD showing the public that they care unlike Intel. There is no current competition from Intel at the moment and the 7000 series are still so so good. And the delay is just for 2 weeks, which is nothing. Finally I think it's a tactical move from AMD too to wait for the Intel "fix". Basically it's a win win win for AMD still.

It could be just printing error on retail box or the size of the CPU lid exceed tolerance level resulting cooling problems.

It does make it easier for reviewers when a launch is staggered.

I hope by this they are more prepared to handle the demand. The last thing I want to hear is a product being out of stock. I hate it when that happens as it becomes very lucrative for scalpers.

This is the kind of responsible behavior that makes me comfortable investing in their company again after the RDNA3 flop of rushing a release

This checks out with the italian guy who leaked the first benchmarks of the 9900x ...

21:38 - I doubt they were chips that "skipped the QC process". More likely they revised the QC process after these chips had already gone through.

A slight delay so the intel issues really explode in the news maybe? So they didn't 'meet' QA, nah I think they did, they want the new batches to exceed QA is my take.
