Ryzen 9000 is (almost) a Scam - AMD's Misleading Marketing and Scummy Upsell Tactics

AMD, after delay, launched their Ryzen 9700x and 9600x- part of the 2nd Generation of Zen CPUs on AM5 (Zen 5). These have been pretty hyped up to be good with IPC improvements, power efficiency and performance claims.... however, these have suddenly become most MID CPUs in a while. And I have some conspiracy ideas why AMD made the decisions that they made

7:30- AMD lied about performance in marketing (just straight up)

13:25- Why these CPUs are so disappointing (RAM and Power Limits)
18:55- AMD purposefully limited the power TOO LOW (conspiracy)
21:00- AMD's possibly scummy upsell tactic

While Intel shoots itself in the foot, AMD will not have much incentive to spit out amazing processors

UserBenchmark is gonna have a field day talking about the 9000 series Ryzen.

AMD shitting the bed after having an obvious advantage, once again……

AMD overfocused Zen5 to power efficiency instead of performance, for those looking for performance just wait to Zen5 X3D

this launch was so bad it made me finally pull the trigger on the 7800x3d

All of those leaker youtubers saying Zen 5 could bring double digit FPS increases to games from the CPU IPC increase alone. They were right, 0.7FPS.

AMD and Intel both f'n it up atm.

this new CPU still takes a W in terms of power draw. for those that were concerned about that. but man...

Anyone else notice in the Gamers Nexus FFXIV test he shows that the 5600X3D beat the 9700X by 5 fps and also beating the entire 7000X standard series by over 40 fps? AM4 is just fuck'ing nuts.

AMD never, ever, misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. How many times have we seen AMD get handed a chance to make an easy dunk with CPUs and GPUs, only to run the other direction and swish a three pointer in their own basket?

As a 7500f owner, I have been loving these reviews!

TDP is not the same as power draw! If you want to know the CPU power draw look at the PPT, it even says so in the AMD reviewers guide. 9600X TDP/PPT = 65W/88W, 9700X TDP/PPT = 65W/88W, 9900X TDP/PPT = 120W/162W & 9950X TDP/PPT = 170W/230W

Also IPC has never equaled the same in gaming performance, I see so many comments getting this wrong going around.

Some testers enabled PBO in the bios to remove the power limits and then the part performed closer to claimed.

This is like Intel 11th Gen all over again.

pretty dumb of AMD to launch the 9000 series this buggy, surely the last thing they wanted was to be compared to Intel? it's obviously a problem with motherboards and microcode, Level1Terchs did a really good breakdown on memory tuning and Linux support and the CPUs definitely have potential.

here's hoping they don't screw up the 9900X and 9950X launch as much, if they need to delay the launch then they SHOULD delay the launch

Not even gonna lie, that upsell plan is actually genius. Nefarious, yeah, but smart? Hell yes
