What type of person becomes a bookkeeper?

What personality types lend themselves to starting a bookkeeping business? In this video I dive in to the Myers Briggs and Enneagram personality tests and let you know which types make good bookkeepers. Let me know in the comments what type you are for either of these, and if you think it's helped you has a bookkeeper. Of course, this is just for fun and I genuinely think a variety of personalities can succeed as bookkeepers. I don't want to put anyone in a box, but it's sometimes fun to analyze!

ISTJ-T Logistician. Got introduced to bookkeeping while volunteering for a non-profit 20 years ago using their simplified, proprietary finance software. Still doing that today. Started up my own bookkeeping LLC to take care of my daughter's business books as a part-time side hustle a couple years ago. Planning to make bookkeeping and tax prep a full-time gig after retiring from my metrology career of 35+ years sometime in the next few years. (Maybe ISTJ is why I always end up in a Quality Assurance position wherever I've worked?) Great channel, great pointers. Keep 'em coming!

I tested as a zero for I/E, so I call myself an I/ESTJ. Both of those descriptions are right on the money for me! I love details and rules and processes and efficiency. I like when there’s a right and wrong answer and I hate having to make tough judgment calls with unpredictable results. I can be great with people and I’m sure I’ll be confident about my skills with some experience, but am too transparent and assertive to put up with jerks so I need to be able to say no and have boundaries. (Customer service life is killing me.)

Anyhow, I just started Bookkeeper Launch and I’m quickly moving through the first unit. I appreciate your recommendation, it helped me make the wiser choice of courses!

I think my personality traits are being punctual, reliable, and trustworthy; although in a way, I am a shy person. However, as you know, I do have a Bookkeeping and Accounting business, and I believe I need to reach out if I am to get more clients and grow my business. I hope you understand what I mean.
