Thank you for this video… well here in Toronto Canada car insurance for an experienced driver is minimum 2k a year… for a new driver it’s is over 5k a year… the prices all around seem so much more affordable than where we live.. So glad to hear how affordable it is in Abruzzo from someone who lives there… I hope you feel better soon!!

Another great video Bella and very informative! I do agree with you about the quality of food in Italy even if it’s the same brand as can be bought in the U.K. prices are soaring in the U.K. public transport is dire and house prices and rentals are extortionate. Viva l’Italia!

Thank you. I am retiring to rural northwest Umbria the end of the year. I have family roots in Abruzzo. I look forward to a better life than here in the US

Aussie here. My mother was Abruzzese so I still have family there. We spent the whole of 2023 in Europe, mainly Italy. Rented an apartment from a friend of a friend in Chieti for 7 months, and travelled around. Bought our fruit n veg from little local vendors or the weekly markets and picked up homemade passata for €2 a bottle, from a bar! 😂 It helps if you know the language and become a local. With Italian heritage you’re just one of them, they let you know that!
😂 unfortunately as much as I love my rels and the lifestyle over there, I wouldn’t move from Australia. I’d love to spend 6-7 months of the year there though, avoiding our Aussie summer and theirs! 😅

Thanks for your cost of living overview. $450 euros per month is around AUD$750.00. That is a bargain. Not sure exactly what I spend here in Tasmania but bare necessity, non rent staples without entertainment or indulgences is estimated around AUD$1500.00 minimum. So double, but for one, not two. No mortgage, so rent starting at AUD$2.5K, less rates, insurance, water on top of that. Have been looking into Abruzzo/Molise/Piedmonte and the housing/lifestyle on offer looks very appealing. So much history, art, architecture, culture, natural beauty just wandering around your own neighbourhood. The access into other parts of Europe super appealing.

Here in Malta me and my wife spend about €100 to €110 from a village supermarket on one week and about €80 on the week after from Lidl. The problem is that we do not find everything at Lidl that my wife likes. These do not include the bread which is delivered to our door everyday (€10 weekly)

I was considering Italy, Portugal, and Spain to relocate to from Colorado. Spain will soon impose a 100% tax for non-residents who are looking to purchase. I guess this makes my decision a little easier. Btw, I hope you don’t fine dine every evening…lol Thank you for sharing a part of your life

You have to stop this! As soon as I find and buy a house in Abruzzo, then you can start again. Just saying. The prices are really good. The nature is amazing. I guess you should feed your pigs 🐷some more, they are very small (and hungry). Thank you for your updates.

€450 a month? If I economise to an extreme extent and live like a hermit, my budget is double that per month. After doing a lot of research, I realise that many prices in Ireland are hundreds of percent higher than in Italy, but the quality of life is terrible, the standard of public services is deplorable, and healthcare is in fact scary.
