After doing some research, I've come to realize that this is basically the Equating Coefficients method. This guy just doesn't write everything down. I'm surprised it's not more popular. Once you get it, it's easier to understand (and faster) than the traditional approach.

Great way to simplify the process by eliminating some of the steps. This video did not address when you have a coffecient other then one for the squared value. Just remember to factor out the coefficent before making the perfect square. Eg. 2x^2+4x-6 = 2(x^2+2x)-6, not proceed with (x^2+2x)
