For years I've been using python, and I prefer it more so than any other...however they are simply tools!! Final point...oh boy do I hate flying braces {} everywhere!

All languages have their strengths and weaknesses. It's like cooking, you wouldn't use flour to make a coffee. The project always determines what you will be working with not your liking of a technology ;)

In my opinion the best language is the one you can become most productive on. With that I mean you want to be able to solve something quickly and find the solution online quick.
Can you find the code to send email from php quickly and take that, tweak it and have it run with minimal problem then that is the language you should use.
You can search for:
php send email (quick)
asp.net c# send email (also quick)
c++ send email (you're probably fcked)
javascript send email (unless you mean the mailto: feature you will not be productive ;) )

Hey man, I have an old multimedia player. The company was closed just after I bought it. I want to code the driver and the software for it in my ubuntu OS by myself. I know that it's gonna take a long time, but I will do it anyway. What language should be the way to go?
