How to Choose A First Programming Language

How exactly do you choose a first programming to learn? Why PHP, and not Ruby? And what about JavaScript or Python? How can you possibly be expected to make an educated decision at this early stage of your learning?

I just wanted to drop a comment for this amazing series. I would really recommend anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in php this tutorial series. This approach towards oop php with mvc structure really helped a lot to make my own coding improve insanely. Even though there are many videos I can't say that I ever felt bored watching them. You make each step very interesting, so it's just like someone else commented, I could watch theese videos all day long.

I really love the flow in you videos. I think the pace is great and the fact that something is happening all the time. I love the way the project expands bit by bit because it's kind of like you say, coding is much about rewriting your own code over and over again until you end up with something that feels really nice and is smooth to use.
And finally, all tips given on different conventions and what is commonly used among proffessional programmers are also greatly appreciated.

This series is awesome, because it gives you the fundamental understanding of the technologies, that drives for example Laravel. I watched it and worked together with JW, did write the code by myself and I can say, that at this moment I understand the MVC concept much much more then before. At first it may look like an ordinary video series but it gives you a real deep understanding of the use of modern PHP techniques. Congrats to JW!
