Thank you for making this video. I didn't even realize that they came in different stiffnesses. My first and only snowboard is a hand me down with metal stiffeners along the sides. Has as much flex as a plank of wood. I wondered why other people were able to bend theirs so easily. Turns out my board is basically a 10 in stiffness. It was good for learning on but now that I've been doing this sport for a couple of years, it's finally time to get one with the flex I prefer.

1:50 'Torsional'. Tortional flex is a legal term referring to plea bargains and sentencing guidelines. Cheers, D.

If someone is choosing his first snowboard more important is to choose shorter board. I've tried 165 for the frist time and it was a disaster. (I'm 195)
But i've learned to ride during 1 single day when got my feet on 157 for a day. Now i'm riding 160 (x wider for my feet size) ans it's perfect for all-mountain.

And if you need 1 board to rule them all - choose soft. Stiff boards are really for hight jumps and freeride, and if you're doing that - you have probably already have like
5 snowboards and need no advise :)

There are a lot more nerdy stuff than just how stiff your board. Beginner mostly focus on the board only. But the stiffness of your boost and binding plays a more important role than how still your board are flexing. There are different combinations to match your riding style. You just need to try out different combo. Took me 3years with different setting to find the best set up that fits my style.. watching a video can only give you information that you can imagine about, in reality it could be not what you would expect. The key is try it during demo events.

What number of stiffness would you recommend for an allmountain board?

Is the kids board flex rating of 1 too soft for an adult?

Are softer boards easier to break, though? I think they are but I've been having trouble finding a solid answer to this question
