I noticed when I cry deeply I would do that subconsciously and immediately feel relieved. I never payed attention to it before, but now it makes sense.

My PE teacher taught me this more than 30 years ago to help me get to my goal of under 7 minutes for a running a mile. He said the double breathing in would force my body to exhale more carbon dioxide, which would then allow for more oxygen to get in. I tried it and after a few days went from a 7 minute mile to about 6 minutes, 30 seconds. Not bad for a freshman in high school who hated running with a passion! 😂

The problem is he’s not describing the Wim Hof Method. He’s talking about taking a calming breath. Oh well.

This guy is changing my life. Seriously. I seen one video where he suggested to do cold water exposure, breathing exercises and direct sunlight every day. Those 3 things are unbelievable. Truly. I’m 4 1/2 years sober. I’m 53. I got diagnosed last year with adhd. I’m a diabetic with a host of health problems. For the past two months I started doing this and I feel so much better!!

With all due respect to Wim Hoff this is what Indians, Nepalese, Tibetans have been saying since last century, while they were being made fun of as liars, false propaganda creators and cheats, this is the difference, for us Wim Hoff is a Yogi but we will always be frowned upon, nothing should come from this part of the world or else it will be mocked unless there are few loving beings like Wim, true that this ancient art dosen't see in colours but rather bestows it's gifts in the deepest corner of purest of hearts...❤️

Thats crazy! I ran cross country for years and this was a method that seriously helped me with my cardio during a race. I came across it by accident on my own, and I was shocked at the results of my breathing and how I felt while running.

I used to 'suffer' from excruciating cramp during the night. Several months ago I wondered if two very deep breaths held as long as possible would alleviate cramps. It did.

We practice this as Naadi Shodhan (cleansing the channels) in yoga. For millennia. We exhale through the mouth. Has many variations

My husband holds his breath!! When he sleeps— when he hurts, when he works- he also has migraines— now he has had 2 strokes due to a POV (heart)..

This isn't the Wim Hof technique. But this also works especially while running. I never knew this was actually a technique. I do this while running and it's the best way I feel comfortable when I'm running out of breath. I tried taking single deep breaths too but it isn't as effective as this one.

Just started wims breathing a few weeks ago. Been doing the ice baths for over a year. The breathing turns everything up to 100. Already has significantly improved my life in more then 1 way.

I'm beginning to realize that I have practiced many of the lessons in your videos, beforehand. I did this one when I would jog.

Gonna sound weird, but I picked up this breathing method when I was a child by watching Black Beauty. During the racing scene you can hear the brown horse breathing in that pattern.

Funny what you can learn from watching movies.

what's profound i think is that we've known this technique and its effects anecdotally for a long time, and even more amazing, before the world got smaller and everyone started sharing knowledge, many different cultures developed a version of it for themselves. almost exactly how the different cultures developed art, music, SOME KIND OF BREAD etc.

He’s talking about the physiological sigh which is very different than cyclic hyperventilation (win hof)
