- Diablo 4 is a premium priced $70 game, its "micro" transactions have no excuse being this expensive, nor does the games industry have any right to keep using the term "micro" in describing their transactions at this point.

When your game is headed by Activision/Blizzard, this isn't much of a surprise honestly

Did anyone seriously expect anything different? After Diablo Immoral? They set the prices there, no way they'd go back to reasonable prices now.

When digital game clothes cost as much as real life clothes. Gotta love it.

The worst thing about these cosmetics is that because you are so zoomed out from your character, you can't even tell them apart from each other when combat is happening. You're paying money for something that you and everyone else will barely notice.

I miss when cosmetics were unlocked with in game achievements. Made running around with a hard to get outfit so much more rewarding.

Remember the time when cosmetics are all in-game unlocks? I sure do.

A "micro" transaction costs more than a whole second hand game and they're in a paid game! It is just so sickening and disgusting. I wish there was some legal recourse to punish such behaviour.

The moment someone discovered that selling 3D models and textures was easier more profitable than producing full on expansions for the same price is when everything went to shit in terms of monetization

This is the result of people saying "its just cosmetics" for years.

Tolerance breeds acceptance. We should never have put up with it from the beginning

We’re losing the war fellas. They’ve trained the next generation of players that this is part of gaming and it’s normal to buy cosmetics. They have no idea that all these things were earned in game by playing once before.

There was a time when having cool armor, weapons, and mounts meant you had worked hard. It was a prestige thing and you could at a glance tell who had pulled through the most difficult parts of the game. Guess who spearheaded that trend? Blizzard's World of Warcraft did. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

Activision Blizzard is still a very sad and desperate company.

what i find so maddening is that, in the top corner of the shop there is a timer to tell you when new stuff is gonna arrive in the shop. That means they still got alot of stuff there that they didn't show. ALL OF THIS could have been LEGENDARY ITEMS in the ACTUAL GAME. They robbed us of potentially very cool items so they could sell the skins for real money instead.

The pricing for micro transaction cosmetics in games has gotten worse over the years. The fact that a SKIN is priced half the cost of the game is ridiculous. The worst part is Diablo isn't even the worst offender of this.

Does anyone remember when some people said that microtransactions were sort of a good thing because they kept the base price of games from rising? Now most AAA games are $70 but they're still stuffed full of overpriced microtransactions. The one potentially valid reason for microtransactions to exist is completely dead.

What a surprise. The greediest game company is being greedy

This will only stop when people stop giving these companies money for them. Sadly there are too many people for whom this is normal. For the rest of us, there are alternatives in the indie space that aren't patently evil.

My real issue is that all of these armor set and weapon cosmetics could have been “unique” in-game items that are earned/found through playing the game, with actual stats and gameplay effects. I can’t imagine it is harder to put stats and effects on an item than it is to actually design a unique look for them.

As long as people still shell out money and make this work this will never stop
