***ONE IMPORTANT EXTRA NOTE: Pit vs. Nightmare Dungeons
In the new progression system, the Pit will be responsible for determining your difficulty level and will give you glyph experience but it will not longer drop masterworking materials. In the new progression system those materials are in the Nightmare dungeons.
Why did they flip the purpose of the Pit and Nightmare dungeons? The answer is pretty interesting. The design of the Pit is to blast through as quickly as you can to get to the boss and kill it. There is no side content and there are no obstacles to you moving very quickly to the boss. Since glyph XP is only rewarded when you kill the boss, the Pit is a much better game system fit for glyphs in the first place. Conversely, the crafting materials will be dropping from all the mobs in the Nightmare dungeon. So, side content, large packs of elites and going off the beaten path still gets you the rewards you intended to do the dungeon for. So, like the Pit is better for glyphs, the nightmare dungeon design is better for farming mats (yes the end boss will still have more, but the mobs are intended not to be a waste of time).

Remember when runewords were supposed to be in the game at launch? Super cool and very smart decision to lock them behind a paid expansion.

Latest blizzard trend so far with each game: lets sell a new game where the entire premise is "going back to the old roots", "giving what fans want", "its COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME" and then with each patch just bring it to the last game released in the franchise... OW2 going back to OW1, WoW going back to talent trees aka going back to Vanilla roots, D4 now just goes full blown D3 not even trying to hide it. Bro wtf is happening.

Paywalls for game altering content is never a good idea. It always divides the player base.

Upon mentioning this on stream, I was met with a deluge of "get a job" "nothing's free" "get a second job" comments and was genuinely shocked at the hostility towards a legitement criticism. All of the gaming children don't remember that this was always how DLC used to be and if it didn't eventually kill the game, it made it very difficult to play with friends. To be transparent, $40 isn't a big deal for me but it certainly is for some. I think it's a poor choice on Blizzard's part.

I don't mind updates like these, but it feels like core updates have replaced what we normally had in the season. These changes aren't going away so what *is* a season at this point? Just the vendor and 2-3 quests?

always hated the monsters scaling with player level. Like why should I go back to my starter area mobs that were like lvl 7 and I come back at lvl 60 and now they are also lvl 60. Ruins the feeling of power and fun imo

Clean clear and to the point, heres what i think. Games arent made by gamers anymore. They are made by for profit companies with only that in mind, and that is in fact, why they suck! Gamers made super mario galaga street fighter doom goldeneye. Because they wanted to! Modern gaming hasnt felt like gaming because its not gamers making our games anymore. Its companies.
