should be noted that typing random assortments of letters like that isn't going to help you when you're typing actual words, just helps the fingers to figure out what they are doing. Also unless you have only just started to use a keyboard you probably know where all the letters are by memory whether you think you do or not, its just that the brain doesn't know what to do when its not habitually looking at the keyboard. I pretty much tripled my speed after a while by just forcing myself to not look at the keyboard, the first week or two are gruelingly slow and you'll want to just say screw it and switch back to whatever you were doing before but after a while it gets easy really quickly.

For those that don't know, the way accuracy is calculated is that you subtract one word for each error that you make. So if your speed was 40 word per minute with two errors your adjusted speed would be 38 words per minute.

I started typing at the age of 16. That was many years ago and I still love typing. I am attracted to any website that talks about typing. I always learn something new even though I have taught typing all those years.

If you are used to your own typing, it is like hell to change it to this, slow and painful. I gave up learning it many times before, but I started today again (before your video, I just find it when I had some rest in practice).

Keyboarding has been my best skill since I was 12 years old. That is the reason I treated myself to a microcomputer in the year 2002. The microcomputer complements my modern-day typewriting that I would call "keyboarding."

1:47 Another thing you will notice about the older typewriters there was no key for the number 1, 0, or exclamation mark. the upper case L doubled as number 1, the upper case O doubles as zero, and an exclamation point was made by typing the apostrophe located above the 8 and back spacing and typing a period. If I remember correctly the shift key at the bottom left controls only letters and shift at the upper right only numbers. I'm not sure why the period is over the shift key, my guess it has something to do with typing telegrams as the slash is used more often than periods.

With the shift keys it works best to use the shift key on the opposite side of the keyboard, i.e. for the letter 'F' you would use the shift key on the right side of the keyboard.
