Determining how better to manage your time is critical. Whether you are trying to balance, work, home, and a family, or if you are just trying to take on a huge task that may seem daunting, time management can help you. Here are a few short tips on time management that could help you out. These are little tips I wish I knew when I went out into the working world after college.

Grab some of the gear we use to film our Professor Wolters videos.
Grab one of Professor Wolters shirts or other merchandise at

Microsoft Surface: We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

Lights: Mount Dog 18’ Ring Light Kit. It will light up your filming space so your videos will look clearer and film better. We started using it and it makes all the difference.

Sony Alpha Camera: We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you film on location.

Manfrotto Tripod: We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Great topic, Mark and excellent advice. Some thoughts...
1 - It's OK to have a long *_list of things to do_* (beyond your normal daily activities) if you prioritize correctly. An old method is ABC. List everything and assign A, B or C priority. A has to be done and completed today; B needs to be completed in next 48 hours or future date; C are activities that benefit your business and career but can be put off almost indefinitely. You should have a few As, a few Bs and several Cs...again, these are in addition to your daily business activities. Be disciplined to not do any Bs or Cs until every A is checked off. And the trick is to make sure your Bs are truly Bs and not Cs.
2 - Measure Twice, Cut Once - In other words, check, recheck and do quality work. If you turn in a report that you quickly slapped together, there's a chance it will be returned for clean up. Nothing wastes more of your precious time than having to something multiple times.
3 - Learn to say no - Yes it's good for your career to take on extra projects and voluntary committee work but it can become untenable very quickly. Even perceived fun committees often add hours to your work week and usually during work hours. Be careful. I've been there.
4 - Eliminate distraction - If you have an office, it is OK to close your door occasionally. If you're in a cubicle, tape a "Do Not Disturb" sign somewhere conspicuous. This is a real time saver.

Thanks Mark. I've learned the value of just getting something done as you say. A little bit today is something you didn't have done yesterday. So I can write a book by just doing a little everyday. Rather than counting projected pages at the beginning. It's the same with reading I can read a long book by not thinking of how long it is, but by simply reading more as often as possible.

Thanks. You just reminded me to clean out my house, mow the lawn, mulch leaves, complete web app project for customer, jog 5 miles, write to my former professors, get my car inspected, chose which three of these to do today...to hell with it all! I'm taking a nap.
