👩🏻‍🦰 A B O U T M E:
Ashley is a soil scientist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up-and-coming gardeners.

Beautiful corn! Thanks for sharing
I haven’t given my corn enough nutrition in the last couple years and I had terrible results. I’m going to prep the bed this winter and maybe do a cover crop if there’s enough time still. Next year is its last chance!

A few years ago I imported seeds from Hawaii university but could not plant here, a few glass corn seeds are also in collection. Most interesting were seeds from Kashmir that need attention for next year.

You did show good technique, I probably will incorporate fenugreek seeds or go three sisters method.

Awesome video! Although I’m in a hot climate (8b) and not a cool one, I’ve struggled with growing corn, specifically peaches and cream, so this video is going to help me out a ton next round. Thanks!!! Also, your grans are adorable; y’all’s dynamic is hilarious and so sweet.

Such a sweet video; I love your grandparents! Great to have family work together! Can you help the outside corn by manually spreading the pollen? I’m zone 3, Alberta.

You can apparently also just leave the husks on and vacuum seal them, then chuck them in the freezer. So almost no processing, and still getting fresh corn cobs in the winter!

Excellent video! Great to see Grandma and Grandpa! Our tallest stalk of corn only made it to about 4 feet max height before they tasseled. Not sure what went wrong. Because we both share zone 3b, when did you plant the seeds? We planted on May 24 when we thought it would be warm enough. 😊

In my experience just an FYI- 1 bushel of unstuck corn will net you 5 quarts of caned corn or frozen corn in freezer bags, after it has been cut off of the cob!

What fertilizes that your grandparents use to grow corn I know I asked a lot of questions but I'm just trying to find something out sometime it's difficult for me to understand I like somebody to explain it to me like I was a six-year-old because I really didn't grow anything when I was little like a kid I lived in the city I seen my mother have a little garden here and there but you know inexperienced
