I've learned that if you are efficient and hard working, you will be punished with more work.

People do want to work; what they don't want is to work for absolutely no reason.

Its not cost of living. Its cost of existing. Rich people get to live. Poor people just exist.

Im quitting society. I am so tired of it, I could not care less about anyone's opinion, I'm going to live how I want to live. In a house in the woods.

As a man, there's nothing to chase in this modern society. It used to be women and Family. Those are things of the past.

I work 60+ hours a week in construction and still struggle to make ends meet. I have to keep lowering my standards of living as everything keeps getting more expensive. I'm thinking it'll just be better to abandon America and go somewhere else.

Many people work long hours and still make less than 3k a month after taxes. So long hours by itself doesn't work for everyone.

Mad respect for acknowledging you have a home because of inheritance. I know people that take credit for stuff like that

Put the dollar back on the gold standard.
Drill the oil we have here at home.
Bring back our manufacturing jobs from other countries.
Become a country who exports more than we import.
Smaller government.

That’s why so many millennials work from home, if I’m gonna work forever I’m not selling my soul to a office

My bosses dad just ended himself. And the supervisor I have, at my second job just had her ex husband delete himself. The point is that people are really starting to lose it.

This struck a nerve, we are institutionalized. We are slaves, so a 17 y/o man can fight and die in war but can’t smoke or buy cigs or dip and or a beer ! That speaks in volume. Do what you love or ur not living !

You know you're in trouble when earning money no longer feels good. Just a constant state of meh...

I gave up on being hopeful. No hope of retiring ever, no hope of even realistically owning a house. I’m just gonna dip and try to live life on my own terms as much I can.

I was homeless living in my car 2 years ago just outside Boston. I was also working a full-time job, didn't qualify for food stamps or to be put on the waitlist for housing (was literally told I'm the wrong color and would need to at least get knocked up to qualify before transitional housing hung up on me without putting my name on the waitlist). I saw and went through a lot of things while trying to starve myself and save money to get a roof over my head again, including having a group of people try to kidnap me. I was sleeping at a service plaza in my car that was off the highway every night since they have 24/7 gas and bathrooms. I had made a kind of friendship with the manager at the McDonald's inside...he figured out that I was sleeping out there and told me one day in hushed tones that I could park near the drive thru where the camera was, and if anyone tried to hurt me or anything they'd have eyes, but that he'd also give footage if ever needed. He was a really nice guy. He would give me discounts on food sometimes which was really nice. People would stare at me like I was an animal in a zoo most days I had off from work and was trying to not spend money so I would just sit in my car there trying to keep my sanity. But for me the breaking point in the shit people would pull on me was when a mother brought her kid right up to my car and said "See! If you don't work hard and study in school you're gonna end up like her!" I got out of my car immediately and told the little girl I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from a university, I work fulltime and am still homeless because I got hurt at work and lost my apartment. I advised her not to go to college unless her family could afford to put her through it themselves, but to teach herself valuable skillsets instead as these days most 4 year degrees by themselves are utterly useless and too expensive for the average person." Her mother was so pissed at me and tried to tell me not to talk to her daughter, but I also looked at her and said "Didn't anyone teach you not to judge a book by it's cover? Shame on you!"

So we now have retired boomers looking for work, high school kids, college kids, new college graduates, floods of IMMIGRANTS, and everyone else in-between, but there is a labor shortage and there is not enough jobs to go around for everyone, but the unemployment rate is low and we don't have enough workers for all the jobs so lets jack up the cost of everything and make homelessness and living in your car a criminal offence and the have every political campaign talk about tackling homelessness while they raises taxes and bail out multibillion dollar corps. and wage a war on drugs while simultaneously flood the streets with them and incentivize your family doctor to write you a script for oxymoron.

I gave up and moved to Thailand. I live in a condo that is a five-minute scooter ride to the beach. It has a huge custom pool, weight room, guard, concierge, and covered parking for $250/month. Health insurance is $150 per month (I'm old). My favorite lunch is a freshly made chicken kebab, which is very filling at $2.50. I can sit at a bar and enjoy the sunset with a beach view and a beer cost $2.50.
