My cousin has 2 Devon Rex’s and we trained one of them to sit down when we point to him

My family has had dogs most of my life, and I loved them. But after a difficult circumstance in a relative's life, I took in her beautiful, exotic Devon Rex. This cat has changed and enhanced the way I view all animals. She's sweet, extra sensitive, intelligent, and very affectionate. She follows me around and sometimes jumps out at me to play. What a joy! My only regret is that I haven't experienced the sheer delight of these exquisite creatures all of my life!

I watched this video before getting a Devon Rex almost a year ago, now I‘m watching it again, 2 Devon Rexes later.

All I can say is I never had privacy again lol, they both take up the most space in bed, one laying by my legs, the other one between my boyfriend and me, like a little human, sticking out his head from the blanket. I also never have a peaceful minute on the toilet or on the phone, they always come up and wanna snuggle on my lap or chest.

They‘re loving and affectionate, playful, one even started to jump up my shoulder when I‘m sitting down.

But they‘re not all cuddly, they love to play and make you laugh with silly actions.
This is just the best breed I can imagine. You get a cat, a dog and a monkey all in one!

This video made me question getting a Rex for no reason at all.

I would not have put stubbornness on this list. They are inquisitive and intelligent and therefore get bored easily, so if you want them to do something boring, or they know they can make you do it for them, they won’t do it and might appear stubborn. Buuuut, if you keep your Devon Rex entertained they’re more easy to train than many other breeds. They’re very food-motivated, love attention and praise, are very active and love a challenge. All those things make for excellent trainees, you just have to put in the work.

I laughed hard when I saw this title. Devon Rex is the ONLY cat I would ever get other than a sphynx.

Do you have a Devon Rex? Yes, mine is very active but I would have to say, he cuddles with me more than he plays. He would rather be in my lap, on my shoulder or under covers by my leg. He wants to be touching me most of the time. So, anyone out there, listening to this and wants a cuddle cat, please consider a Devon. They are also very trainable. They are expensive but worth the money if you want a constant companion. Also, I am alone with just my Devon and he is perfectly content and happy with just him and I. I could continue but this is a wonderful cat to own. My favorite so far. My mom raised hymalaians and Persians. We also had just regular cats all my life. The Devon is so different. He doesn't hide out, his is always beside my unless he is playing. When I turn out the lights to go to bed, he comes directly to my bed and gets under the covers. I want more. They are like chips, you can't have just one.

Whoever made this video has no clue what a Devon Rex Cat is all about. I have one and want more just because of how much they love to cuddle and they are very obedient. Once you have a Devon Rex you will never look at any other cat breed!! ❤❤

Interesting..
1. My three rexes play alot, and it's fun to play with them, but they LOVE to snuggle with me, a lot. Almost all the time when I just sit down, they'll all come to me and want to be on my lap :D All the rexes I KNOW are like this. weird (?) not..
2. This really depends on ANY cat. Cats are divided to "bushdwellers" and "treedwellers" (pls see more info from Jacskon Galaxy). So some cats like little whole to run into that are on the ground and some love to go as high as they can. Basic cat needs, both, in a way.
It IS true that Devon Rexes usually like higher places; but this makes them want to ride on your shoulders a lot ;) and they curious so.
3. This is just bull :"D I know a LOT of rexes that are picky eaters. They are mostly FOOD MOTIVATED, but that is completely different thing. (where's the video getting it's facts here?)
AND YOU SHOULD NEVER FREE FEED YOUR CAT :D This is why people "cry" alot about cats; they are always awake at night (NOT if you have meal times, like they'd have in the wild, because they can't always catch the prey, cmon.. :D). Freefeeding also is never a good option in a multicathousehold; you can't see if thei eating behavior changes, and might not be able to react quickly enough if they've become sick. + Any castrated cat does this, literally :D
4. WHAT :D???? I've trained all my cats, literally. They are so smart and loving and curious. AND WHAT MAKES IS SO MUCH EASIER TO TRAIN IS THE FOOD MOTIVATION. I've also trained dogs, that are super smart, so sorry to say, the cats were easier, cuz they really wanted the food and were willing to do stuff for it.
This is just bull right there... "they're gonna do the wrong thing" ???? what's this suppose to mean, hahah :D?
5. This is true. But who the hell would want a cat that is scared of people? TRAUMATIZED? All cats are social, wth :D?`I'm so confused now. This channel a cat hater? Rex hater?
6. Omg.... These are living things. And money is just money. You can always save up.. jeesus christ.. Sure I mean, if you have this much money trouble, DONT GET A PET, ALL PETS COST MONEY! Devon Rexes are fairly healthy cats, so wont take you much to vet; as VET bills are HUGE. JUST saying, as the video didnt even bother to mention this out hahah :D This has become hilarious.
7. This isn't true. (I live alone with 3 Devon Rexes. They keep each other company when I cannot. It is true that they are curious and like to "put their noses" to everywhere, maybe a bit more often than some other cats, but they also are "normal" cats, so they sleep 1/3 of their lives, and that's a lot. So lot of snuggling, because the human/owner is the best thing there is for these cats, and they love to know what their human is doing.

SO, if you want a loving cat, WHICH is like a dog; easy to train, social, little wacko sometimes, loves to play: GET A DEVON REX.
If you want a "wall flower"; DONT SHOP or even ADOPT. GET A PLANT.

I don't entirely agree with your points. The Devon Rex's that I know also play a lot but they cuddle just as much and they are extremely people-oriented and curious. It was extremely easy to teach them commands, they are very dog-like. Mine come when you call them, give paws, eat on command, etc. They can also be left alone (with a friend of their own species, as they shouldn't be kept individually) and they get along well with other animals. The only downsides I can think of is having to watch how much they eat and ear cleaning. Otherwise they are quiet, social animals, but they should also be challenged.

I adopted a female Devon some years back. What a charming cat. I liked to tell visitors that "Nikki loves everybody, and everybody loves Nikki". Nikki did not meow, . She made a chatter. I think about her often.

I have a 8 year old DR. She’s the sweetest sweetheart and so are my other Devon rexes. I 100% recommend

I have 3 and they are super smart. Mine listen to commands, do tricks and have a huge house to run in with lots of activities. I do agree they aren't for everyone but they are so Incredibly loving and sweet. Easiest cats to introduce to any cats or dogs they just love other animals.

My Devons have never been big eaters. They free feed and have never been overeaters. Devons are stubborn but they are easy to train. They are very motivated by pleasing their people.

My 3 Rex are trainable. Shake hands, catch, come, down, up, turn, close door, off are just a few directions. Clicker training and breaking down steps are helpful if you want to train them. I also walk one of the them very often because she really enjoys going out with me.

They sleep with me sometimes and they love to snuggle with me (and 2 of them fight for my laps). They are fun to be with and love people!

Not all statements are true.. The Devon has different personalities just like people do. We had one for 16 years. Dry food & wet food twice A-day. Weighed about 5 pounds.Ask your veterinarian for the best type of food. I would never get any other kind of breed besides a Devon. But both my wife & I are retired. Definitely not a cat to be left home alone.

I am single and I’ve had various Devon Rex cats in my home since 1999. They are active but I give them plenty of outlets for their natural energy. All my cats have been daily snugglers. We are one big happy family. From my vantage point you are wrong on every reason except one. They can be expensive but there are ways around that. Adopt adult cats instead of kittens and check into rescue situations.
